The partnership involved collecting vintage luggage to be transformed into “Boom” cases or audio touristers. The stu-dents were given the challenge of utilizing older hard shell suit cases and engineering them for sound. This is a capstone proj-ect for the electrical engineering senior design class. They were placed in groups of two and give the direction to design and build a “boom” case. Upon comple-

Local law enforcement use these cuddly teddy bears to give to children that are involved in some type of trauma (house fire, lost child, car accident, domestic dispute, etc.).

As the bustling holiday sea-son approaches, Genesee Valley Center invites local nonprofit organizations to share in a little of the holiday cheer while earn-ing money by having volunteers gift wrap customer purchases.The program gives 100% of profits collected directly to the organization. Funds are col-lected by the organization at the time of service. They’ve had a tremendous response to this program in years past. They would like to have an organization in the mall every weekend. The program will take place on Friday through Sunday of

each week. Shifts will vary based on mall holiday hours and must be staffed by volunteers at all times. Gift wrapping materi-als are the responsibility of the organization and each must be able to present their Tax ID and proof of liability insurance cov-erage. A limited number of dates remain available for 2011.
