The IMF Board have decided to continue providingfinancial
support to Latvia. On 19 February Latvia received
the third tranche of the IMF loan in amount of 200 million
euros.
The credit rating agency Standard&Poor's upgradedLatvias
outlook from negative to stable.
The losses of the banking sector in January 2010constituted 36.1
million lati.
Surplus in the current account of Latvias balance ofpayments
last year reached 8.8% of GDP.
According to the flash estimate in the last quarter of 2009the
economy shrunk by 17.7% (YoY).
In January 2010 consumer price index showed decrease by3.1%
(YoY).
In December 2009 exports rose by 4.4% (YoY).
In the fourth quarter of 2009 the number of job seekersreached
19.7%.
In the first month of 2010 in the consolidated total budget
revenues exceeded expenditure. There was a financialsurplus of
70.7 million lati in the total budget.
