RECAP: 3B Seth Mejias-Brean hit a walk-off 3-run home run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th inning as Arkansas came-from-behind to defeat Arkansaa 9-6 on Thursday night. LF Chuck Taylor (3x5, R, RBI), DH Dario Pizzano (3x5, 2B, 2 RBI) and 2B Zach Shank (3x4, 2 R) each recorded a team-high 3 hits, while Mejias-Brean (2x5, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI) and SS Chris Mariscal (2x4, R, RBI, BB) each collected 2 of the Travelers 16 hits. Mejias-Brean hit his 2nd home run of the season with a 3-run blast with 2 outs in the 9th inning. Starter Andrew Moore (3.0,4,2,2,2,1,HR) allowed 2 runs on 4 hits over 3.0 innings, but did not factor into the decision. In his first rehab appearance, he struck out 2 over 1-2-3 6th inning. Altavilla was placed on the 10-day disabled list (retroactive to 4/30) with right AC joint inflammation on May 1. Prior to his DL stint, Altavilla was 2-2 with 4 holds and a 4.38 ERA (6 ER, 12.1 IP) in 13 relief appearances with the Mariners this season. He has struck out 16 and walked 9 while limiting opponents to a .190 (8x42) average against. He went 1-1 with 2 holds and a 1.29 ERA (1 ER, 7.0 IP) with 9 strikeouts and 3 walks in his first 7 outings of the season (3/29-4/14). Since April 17, he is 1-1 with 2 holds and an 8.44 ERA (5 ER, 5.1 IP) with 7 strikeouts and 6 walks in 6 games. In 2017, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound right-hander went 1-1 with a 4.24 ERA (22 ER, 46.2 IP) with 52 strikeouts and 20 walks in 41 relief appearances with the Mariners. The native of McKeesport, PA, was originally selected by Seattle in the 5th round of the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Mercyhurst (PA) College. He made his Major League debut with the Mariners on Aug. 27, 2016 at Chicago-AL. PITCHER OF THE WEEK: RHP Johendi Jiminian was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week, April 30-May 6. In 2 starts this week, May 1 at Tulsas (4.2,2,0,0,5,5) and May 6 vs. NW Arkansas (5.1,4,1,1,2,4), Jiminian combined to go 1-0 with a 0.90 ERA (1 ER, 10.0 IP). He limited opponents to a .167 (6x36) average, while walking 7 and striking out 9. Overall this season he is 2-1 with a 1.99 ERA (7 ER, 31.2 IP) in 6 starts with the Travelers. He has limited opponents to a .209 (24x115) average, while walking 15 and stirking out 27. Among all Texas League qualifying pitchers, his 1.99 ERA is the 3rd-best in the league this season.
