Such an enterprise is bound to be continually subverted by the variety of traditions, points of view, and forms of literature in the Bible. Subversion in fact is the name of the game when Jesus teaches in parables. These are short stories whose aim is to surprise. They appear to be a fa- vourite teaching tool of Jesus. STM Open Gardens Proposal: to organise an Open Garden

Weekend in Autumn 2018.

Purpose: to raise funds for our parish.

This is just an idea at the moment. Be-

fore we proceed, we need to establish

the availability of suitable “autumn” gardens. We

would need to have three or four gardens available

over one weekend in autumn next year, date yet to be

decided.

Would you be prepared to open your garden to the

public, or have a family member or neighbour willing

to do so? It is anticipated that a team of parish volun-

teers would be present at each location to attend to

the various roles required to run the day.

For further enquiries or expressions of interest, please

contact me via email or phone: mareetaver-

[email protected] or 0425 721 207.

Thank you in anticipation, Maree

What’s Happening Here & Elsewhere...

PAGE 4 SEASONS 15TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR A

Baptisms These are held on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month at 11:15 am or at any of

the Parish Masses on the 2nd, 4th or 5th Sundays.

A compulsory preparation night for parents takes place on the first Tuesday of

each month in the Parish Community Centre at 7:30 pm. Children to be baptised,

and their families, are then invited to a Welcome Mass prior to Baptism where

they are introduced to the Parish Community and welcomed by them. In order for this to happen, preparation

needs to begin at least 4-6 weeks before the Baptism, with a call to confirm parents’ attendance at the Prepara-

tion Night.

When children of school age are to be baptised an extended preparation time is required. It is important to re-

member that Baptism is about the initiation of a child into a community of Faith or a community of Disciples.

There is no such thing as a ‘private’ Baptism... it is something done by the whole Church.
