EASTER IN THE MIDST OF MANY TRIALS

Dear friends in Christ: I begin by wishing you a very happy and a blessed Easter. It is a different Easter since we can’t celebrate the way we have celebrated in the past. But still we are celebrating the resurrection of Christ who went to the cross because it was his mission. In the midst of the turmoil among the Jews and the Romans because they could not accept the teachings and the person of Jesus, they decided that he had to be crucified and therefore have one man die for the rest of the nation. Yet, Jesus accepts his death on the cross because he knows his vocation-mission. He knows that the Fa-ther had chosen him from the beginning to be the savior of the world. From the moment that Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the garden of paradise, God began to see a way in which He would rec-oncile humanity to himself again. This is why Jesus the Son of God is the one chosen by the Father to liberate men and women and bring them back to God. Today the Risen Christ is still liberating people from the virus and strengthening those who are saving lives out there. My great-niece told my sister the other day: “I am very sad because this year we will not come to your house to celebrate Easter as a family as we do every year.” Yes it is a very differ-ent Easter but still we are celebrating this Paschal Mystery that gave us life over 2,000 years ago. Perhaps today we can understand better what this mystery is all about. Jesus took to the Cross our iniquities, our weaknesses, our infirmities and our tribulations. His death on the cross has meaning because he did it for us who had strayed from God. Who had began to worship idols in our lives and had become unfaithful to Him. Today, we celebrate and commemorate his death and resurrec-tion knowing that He is conquering the evil of the virus we are experiencing which is destroying and killing so many people. This pandemic is not just a sickness but it is a biological war and I know how sad our Lord is with all this. It came so fast and it spread too fast. Yet, the risen Lord is with all those who have been infected and are suffering with the virus. The risen Christ is with the families who are sepa-rated from their loved ones who are dying all alone in the hospital beds only with the assistance of the medical staff. Christ raised from the dead and conqueror of SIN and DEATH is with all of us. We are not alone. This year we couldn’t come together for the beautiful celebrations of Holy Week commemorating the Passion and resurrection of Jesus. We couldn’t walk the streets expressing and giving witness to our faith. We could not even celebrate confession and receive the Body and Blood of Jesus for Easter. But we have been able to witness to the love of God by being charitable and taking care of others and of ourselves by staying home. At home we have grown closer to-gether, we have shared the good times with one another and the parents have been able to spend more time with their children. It has been a good, and true Holy Week. In the midst of this trial we have experienced the love of God who has let us know that we are not alone and He is with us. Indeed, it is Easter so let us have a wonderful Easter in the family. To all of you a Blessed and a Happy Easter!

I know the people can’t wait for this to come to an end. After seeing so many people dying and so many still in hospi-

tals throughout the world, there is noth-ing but to hope for an ending to this pan-

demic. The whole of earth and Heaven is suffering and crying for those who have lost their lives and of course for their families who are now suffering the lost of their loved ones. It is amazing to see how people have come out to help others especially in the hos-pitals and places where they are taking care of the sick. The master has said many times like many oth-ers that they never thought they would see anything like it. They remember studying about the epidemics in the world back in school many years ago but never

to see that it will be a reality in their lives. I want to congratulate the people that have been very obedient and have stayed home. I know for many people this is a big sacrifice because they like to be active and out doing things. But your staying home has saved many lives including your own. You must continue to stay home. Please don’t listen to anyone when they say you don’t have to wear a mask or wear gloves. It is not true. For a long time you need to do this because the virus is not going to go away soon. So take care of your-self and your loved ones they need you and you need them. I want to wish you a Happy Easter in the midst of all these trials you are experiencing. But remem-ber it is Easter and it is a New Life. Ciao, woof, woof.

What difference makes in your life to know Jesus?--Have you ever being afraid of Jesus? Have you ever tried to run away from him?

HAPPY EASTEROn behalf of my Pastoral Team, the deacons, Fr. Dailon and myself, we wish you a very Blessed and Happy Eas-ter. It is our prayer that the resurrection of Jesus that we are celebrating will bring health of mind and body, pro-tection and the peace that can only be given by the Risen Christ. These are very difficult times and we can’t wait for this to be over. I invite you to look at things differently as an opportunity to grow closer to Christ and to your family. Through the celebration of the virtual Mass every day and the Holy Hour you can come to understand better what is taking place. Being at home with your family, you have the opportunity to get to know your children better and your children to know you as well. It is a time in which in the midst of these painful moments we can be and pray together as a family. Let us not waste our time but use it to grow in our friendship with Jesus and with one another.

Happy Easter

COLLECTING FOODWe will all face difficult times in the days ahead. Many of our families will suffer greatly without jobs and mon-ey to put food on the table. We do have a large migrant community and undocumented and who cannot receive governement assistance even though they pay taxes and work very hard in the many jobs they do. We are col-lecting non-perishable food on Tuesdays and Thurs-days from 10am-12 Noon outside Church Hall. This food will be given to the Interfaith Food Pantry where people seek and receive assistance. They are located at 190 Speedwell Ave. We are working together with Chef Fredy’s Table Restaurant and the Methodist Church. We trust that you will help us help others in our community.Pasta; Cereal, White Rice, Dry Milk, Boxed milk in carton Non refrigerated (Parmalat, Natrel, Lala, Horizon, etc); Canned: fruit, tomatoes, beans: pork & beans, beans: pinto, red, white, cannelinni, lentils, peas; also all these varieties but dry; canned vegetables: beets, corn, string beans, carrots; Tuna Fish/chicken, canned meats, ham, vienna sausage; canned pasta: ravioli, spaghetti & meat-balls, hash, stew, chili; soups: cream of chicken, mush-room, etc. & hearty varieties, low-sodium; Baby Food: Stage 1,2 & 3; Baby Cereal: Rice, Oatmeal; store plastic/paper bags to carry food; Boost or Ensure milk all kinds

VIRTUAL MASS AND HOLY HOURWe will continue with our virtual Mass every day in English at 10:00 am and in Spanish at 12:00 noon. Then at 6:00 pm. we will do our bilingual Holy Hour Monday thru Saturday. I want to thank the many people that are connected at these times to join us in the celebrations. I believe this is helping a lot of people to deal with the crisis. Some one told me that he had not prayed so much as he is doing right now with the virtual Masses we are having. So lets keep connected and let us walk together through these difficult times. This is a tremendous trial we are facing and we must remain faithful to God till the end.

LA PASCUA EN MEDIO DE MUCHAS PRUEBAS

Por Padre Hernán Queridos amigos en Cristo:

Comienzo deseándoles a todos unas muy felices y bendecidas pascuas. Es una Pascua dife-rente, porque no podemos celebrarla como siempre lo hemos hecho. Pero aun así celebramos la resurrección de Cristo quien fue a la cruz porque esa fue su misión. En medio del alboroto entre los judíos y romanos, porque ellos no aceptaban las enseñanzas ni la persona de Jesús, decidieron que él tenia que ser crucificado y que un hombre debía morir por el resto de la nación. Aun así Jesús acepta su muerte en la cruz porque sabe su vocación/misión. Él sabe que el Padre lo había escogido desde el principio para ser el salvador del mundo. Desde el momento en que Adán y Eva desobedecieron a Dios en el jardín del paraíso, Dios empezó a ver la forma en la que Él podía reconciliarse con la humanidad nuevamente. Por eso es que Jesús el Hijo de Dios es elegido por el Padre para liberar a hombres y mujeres y acercarlos a Dios. Hoy el Cristo resucitado sigue libe-rando a personas del virus y fortaleciendo a aquellos del personal médico que salvan sus vidas. Mi sobrina le dijo a mi hermana el otro día: “Estoy muy triste porque este año no vendré a tu casa a celebrar la Pascua en familia como lo hacemos cada año”. Así es, este año será una Pascua muy diferente, pero de todos modos seguimos celebrando este Misterio pascual que nos dio nueva vida hace más de dos mil años. Quizá hoy podemos entender mejor de qué se trata este misterio. Jesús tomó la cruz de nuestra inequidad, debilidad, enfermedad y tribulación. Su muerte en la cruz tiene significado porque lo hizo por nosotros que nos hemos alejado de Dios que em-pezamos a adorar ídolos en nuestras vidas y fuimos infieles a Él. Hoy celebramos y conmemora-mos su muerte y resurrección sabiendo que Él está conquistando el mal de este virus que estamos viviendo que destruye y asesina a tantas personas. Esta pandemia no se trata de una simple enfermedad, sino de una guerra biológica y sé que el Señor está muy triste con todo esto. Pasó y se propaga muy rápido. Sin embargo, el Señor re-sucitado está con todos aquellos que han sido infectados y están sufriendo con el virus. El Cristo resucitado está con las familias que están separadas de sus seres queridos que están muriendo solos en la cama de hospital solo con la asistencia médica. Cristo se levantó de la muerte y con-quistó el PECADO y la MUERTE y ahora está con todos nosotros. No estamos solos. Este año no pudimos reunirnos para las hermosas celebraciones de la Semana santa conmemorando la Pasión y resurrección de Jesús. No pudimos caminar por las calles expresando y dando testimonio de nuestra fe. No pudimos escuchar confesiones y ustedes tampoco pudieron recibir el Cuerpo y la sangre de Jesús para la Pascua. Pero hemos podido dar testimonio del amor de Dios siendo carita-tivos y cuidando de otros y de nosotros mismos quedándonos en casa y allí nos hemos hecho más cercanos, hemos compartido buenos momentos unos con otros y los padres han podido pasar más tiempo con sus hijos. Ha sido una buena y verdadera Semana santa. En medio de esta prueba hemos experimentado el amor de Dios que nos dice que no estamos solos y que está con nosotros. Sin duda es la Pascua así que vivamos esta maravillosa tempora-da en familia. A todos ustedes les deseo una bendecida y feliz pascua de resurrección.

Memorias de TonySé que la gente no ve la hora de que esto se termine. Luego de ver morir a tantas personas y en tantos hospitales en todo

el mundo, no queda mas que guardar la esperanza de que termine esta pandemia

pronto. La tierra entera y el cielo están sufriendo y llo-rando a aquellos que han perdido sus vidas y porque sus familias ahora sufren la pérdida de un ser querido. Es maravilloso ver cómo muchos salen a ayudar en hospitales y en lugares donde cuidan de los enfermos. El amo ha dicho muchas veces como muchos otros que nunca pensaron que verían algo así. Él recuerda haber estudiado sobre epidemias en la escuela hace muchos años pero nunca pensó ver lo que ahora su-

cede. Quiero felicitar a los que han sido obedientes y se han quedado en casa. Sé que para muchas familias esto es un gran sacrificio porque les gusta estar activos y salir a hacer cosas. Pero quedándote en casa estás salvando muchas vidas incluso la tuya. Debes seguir en casa y no escuches a aquellos que te dicen que los guantes y tapabocas no sirven, eso no es verdad. Deberás ponértelos por un tiempo porque el virus no va a pasar pronto. Así que cuídate a ti y a tus seres queridos que te necesitan y tu los necesitas. Le de-seo a todos unas Felices pascuas en medio de todas estas pruebas que están experimentando. Recuerda que es Pascua y es una nueva vida. Chao, guau guau.

FELICES PASCUASEn nombre de mi equipo pastoral, de los Diáconos, el Padre Dailon y yo, les deseo a todos una muy bendecida y Feliz pascua. Es nuestra oración que la resurrec-ción de Jesús que celebramos nos traiga salud de mente y cuerpo, protección y la paz que solo nos puede brin-dar Cristo resucitado. Son tiempos difíciles para todos y no vemos la hora de que todo pase. Te invito para que mires las cosas de diferente manera como una oportuni-dad de crecer en tu fe y acercarte a Cristo y a tu familia. Con la celebración virtual de la misa y la hora santa, puedes entender mejor lo que está sucediendo. Estando en casa con tu familia, tienes la oportunidad de conocer mejor a tus hijos y que ellos te conozcan mejor. Es un tiempo en el que en medio de estos momentos doloro-sos podemos estar juntos y rezar juntos como familia. Así que no perdamos el tiempo, mas bien usémoslo para mejorar nuestra relación con Jesús y de unos con otros.

RECIBIMOS ALIMENTOSEnfrentaremos tiempos difíciles en los próximos días. Muchas de nuestras familias sufrirán al estar sin trabajo ni dinero para poner comida en la mesa. Tenemos una grande comunidad inmigrante indocumentada y que no recibe asistencia del gobierno aunque pague impuestos y trabaje en los duros trabajos que realizan. Estamos re-cibiendo alimentos no perecederos los martes y jueves de 10 am a 12 pm afuera del basement de la iglesia y se los damos al Banco de alimentos adonde acude el que necesita recibir esta ayuda. Están en la 190 Speed-well Avenue. Trabajamos en conjunto con Chef Fredy’s Restaurant y Methodist Church. Confiamos en que nos ayudarás a ayudar a otros de nuestra comunidad.

MISA Y HORA SANTA VIRTUALSeguimos transmitiendo la Misa todos los días en ingles a las 10 a.m. y en español a las 12 p.m. y lu-ego la Hora santa a las 6 p.m. de lunes a sábado. Agradezco a las personas que se conectan a nuestra cele-bración. Esto está ayudando a muchos a lidiar con la crisis. Alguien me dijo que antes no rezaba mucho y aho-ra si con la Misa virtual que ofrecemos. Sigamos conectados y caminemos juntos por estos momentos difíciles. Es una tremenda prueba que estamos experimentando y debemos permanecer fieles a Dios hasta el fin.
