Due to enrolled children’s life threatening Anaphylactic Allergic reaction to all nuts
and peanut products, we would like to encourage families not to send these
products to school with their children. These include peanut butter, nutella,
sesame seeds, loose nuts, muesli, nut or chocolate bars or any products containing
any type of nuts. We appreciate your support in this matter.
13 February, 2014
Welcome to another busy and rewarding
week at Seaham Public School. Our
classes seem very settled and all of our
students have settled in well to their
new class environment and routines.
Our teachers are looking forward to the “Meet The Teacher” evening next
Wednesday, 19 February. The first session will commence at 6.30pm and the
repeat session at 7pm. Therefore if you are late or if you need to attend more
than one session you will be able to do so.
Technology Update: The order has been placed for our new Smartboard in
the 2/3M classroom. Hopefully that will be up and running soon. That only
leaves 1B’s classroom without this technology. There is a portable whiteboard
there, however it is unreliable and not working efficiently. A Department IT
support person is booked to try and fix it or at least tell us if it can be fixed. I
will hope to have positive news about this soon. Work is almost complete on
the upgrade of our wifi network. When complete access to the internet should
be a lot faster and smoother for our staff and students. It will also allow us to
move forward with the purchase of a mobile class set of iPads.
Whole School Assembly: Our first whole school assembly will take place
tomorrow in the hall at 2.15pm. There will be no class item at this assembly.
3/4J will be providing the entertainment at our next assembly on Friday 7
March. Friday 21 March is Harmony Day, so watch out in the next few
newsletters for information about this special day.
Family Update Information: Yesterday our family update information was
forwarded home. There is an IT problem with these reports that some families
are aware of. We apologise for this. IT in Sydney have assured us that it is
being rectified as soon as possible. We would like to reassure our families that
information or phone numbers are never given out to any person without
permission.
Surf Safe: Our surf safe program is taking place on Tuesday. Numbers need
to be finalised tomorrow. If you are wanting to attend, please get your notes
and payment into the school tomorrow. If you have misplaced the note, please
see our web page under “Our School” for permission notes.
Canteen: The canteen will be closed on Friday 14 February for both
breaks. This day is unable to be covered by volunteers. If you are available
on Fridays for canteen your help would be appreciated. Cover is needed for
28th Feb and the 7th of March. Please contact Leanne cox on 0410320957.
P&C: Just a reminder that our first meeting for 2014 is 7.30pm on
Wednesday 19 February in the library. The Meeting will be immediately
following the “Meet the Teacher” Information sessions. The AGM meeting will
be first (approx 20mins). We then will get straight into our first meeting for
2014. We encourage everyone to come along and be involved in the P&C. New
members and new ideas are really important to the P&C and it's ability to
continue to offer the additional value and opportunities to the school and our
children.
Supercover: Yesterday our Supercover for 2014 were forwarded home to
families. It would be appreciated if the workbooks and technology fees could
be finalised before 28 March. Please remember that we offer payment plans to
our families to accommodate budgets. Thank you to those families who have
already paid.
Family Update Information: Family update information also was sent
home yesterday. It is imperative that you make any changes and complete the
forms to enable the school to have the correct information in case of
emergency. We thank you for your assistance with this matter.
Year Six Jumpers: We are needing to finalise the Year Six Jumper Order
by Wednesday 19 February. If you are wanting your student to have this great
memento, please get your order into the office. Payment can either be
finalised now or on delivery of jumpers.
2A Sport: 2A will be participating in infants and primary sport during Term
One due to the upcoming Athletics Carnival. This will enable those students
that are eligible to participate to practice for the events. Sports Uniform will be
required on both Wednesday and Fridays.
Staff Carparks: Just a reminder to families to please not park in the staff
carparks. It is a WHS Departmental Policy and your cooperation in this matter
is essential. This Policy is in place to ensure the safety of your children.
Lockdown Drill: I’m sure your child/ren came home yesterday with
stories about our lockdown procedure. This was our first drill for the year.
These lockdown and emergency evacuations are essential to enable us to be
well equipped if there is ever an emergency at Seaham Public School.
Asthma Plans: Asthma plans were sent home yesterday for our asthmatic
children who we have on file. If you did not receive a plan, please contact the
office.
Lost Property from Swimming School: We have some lost
property that was not claimed from the recent swimming school. If you are
missing a towel or pink rash shirt please contact the office.
Publication Consent: Enclosed with todays newsletter for Years 1-6 is
the publication consent form. Please complete them and return to the teacher.
This consent form is for our publication into our school newsletter, web page,
photos within the school etc. Please note that this is for school purposes only.
Kindergarten have already completed their publication forms for 2014 with their
enrolment.
