Week eight has certainly been a very exciting and busy
week at Seaham Public School. The performance “Kids in
Space” has been a huge success.
Tonight is the final performance and as it winds down, I
would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for
their support and hard work during its preparation and on
both performance nights. Organising an event like this is
a huge logistical task. To Mrs Millburn, Mrs Elliott and
Miss Lowcock and the K-2 Staff, thank you for your
direction and organisation during the last term. To all of
our teachers and support staff, thank you for your
commitment behind the scenes. Our office staff have
done a wonderful job. Thank you for organising tickets
and seating plans.
Mrs Bowman has been working hard filming the show.
Shortly you will have the opportunity to purchase a DVD
contribution through the sale of refreshments for all performances. Thank you to the P&C members
who have given up their time to work the food stall or helped in another way.
Finally, to all of our wonderful students, seeing their smiling faces and confidence performing brings,
makes all the work worthwhile.
Father’s Day: I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our dad’s and male carers a very
happy father’s day. Our P&C father’s day stall is on today. Thanks to Kerri and her team for their
organisation. If your child did forget their money today, they can still select a gift and pay tomorrow.
They will receive a reminder slip today, which will hopefully help them remember the payment
tomorrow.
Regional Athletics: We had some great results last Friday at Glendale. Many
students achieved personal bests. Jayden Hancock deserves special mention, as he
had made it through to the State Athletics Championship for discus. Great effort
Jayden! Congratulations also to Cody Hancock, who was an overall fourth in the 100
metres finals, with only 0.03 seconds between first and fourth.
Mrs Campbell: As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, Mrs Campbell only has a
matter of days left at our school as a support staff member before she takes leave.
(Mrs Campbell has promised to visit regularly) We wish Mrs Campbell all the very
best and we know that everyone will help make next Wednesday a very special one.

Life Education Van: Our Life Education Program commences tomorrow.
Notes have been sent home to those families that have not paid the $9 for this
program. (payment needs to be finalised for your child/ren to attend). If you
are not wanting your child/ren to attend, please notify the office.
Father’s Day Stall: Thank you once again to Kerri McCaw for her
coordination and our P&C for their annual father’s day stall. This is a
wonderful school community activity that allows each and every student to go
shopping independently for that special male in their life. If your child/ren
missed out today due to being absent, or you would like to purchase further
gifts for grandfathers, gifts are available at the office.
A very special thank you once again to Bridie Gillon’s nan,
Susan Hutchinson who once again donated some beautiful
father’s day gifts. Susan has been donating both Mother’s
and Father’s day gifts for
three years now and her
continued generosity is
overwhelming.
We would also like to thank
Louise Cowan, for her
fantast ic donation of
Jukebox Coffee Beans to our
stall.
Book Covering: We would
like to take this opportunity to thank Dianne Marsh (Mrs
Campbell’s cousin) who volunteered to cover the new
readers that have recently been purchased for our school.
Mrs Marsh was our sole volunteer, and we sincerely thank
her for her time and dedication to Seaham Public School.
Science with Mrs Imber: Students in
KL have been enjoying their science and
technology activities with Mrs Imber.
The students had a great time making
father’s day ties.

Spelling-a-Thon: The final figure in
the fundraising Spelling-aThon was
$2603.05. Thank you again for the
tremendous school community spirit
in helping us achieve our goal of
purchasing new readers for our
students.
From Juilliard to the Bush Anthony Albrecht will be performing at the Woodville Chapel on Sunday from 2pm. Adults $20, Concession $10, Children under 10 free. Anthony is a local young man, who has just returned from New York. It is not very of-ten that our local com-munity would get the opportunity to see a world class player we get a world-class player at Woodville!
Sewing with Mrs Bartlett: Mrs Bartlett is again donating her valuable lunch time to help those
interested students learn to sew. We must also thank Bev Warne (Tahlia & Blake Jarvie’s Ma) for
coming in every Thursday to help. The students love to do this every week and we look forward to
seeing the beautiful end result.
Staff Update: Mrs Stewart from K/1S will be taking a well deserved long service leave for term four.
To avoid distractions on K/1S, Mrs Bartlett will be teaching from Monday-Friday for the remainder of
the year, commencing on 7 October, 2014.
P&C Masters BBQ Help Urgently Needed: Help is desperately needed for Saturday 6 September,
from 12pm-2pm at the P&C BBQ Masters fundraiser. The P&C are working tirelessly to raise money
for our school and students. We understand how busy everyone is, however it is important that
everyone helps out where possible. Please if you can spare two hours on Saturday, call Kerri McCaw
on 0412 683 683. Without these fundraising activities, our school will be unable to continue to
purchase much needed items and continue to improve the school grounds.

Pink Devotion Fundraiser
Hi everyone. Last year my
mum was diagnosed with
breast cancer. This
inspired me to start
fundraising. Last year I
raised over $5000 for the
National Breast Cancer
Foundation. This year my
aim is $10 000, with all
donations going directly to
the Hunter Breast Cancer
Foundation to help with the
costs of their free service.
I’m in the process of
ordering Cadbury boxes of
chocolates to sell. If you
would like to assist in the
sales of the chocolates,
please contact Melinda
Ber tram (parent a t
Seaham Public) on 0431
615 767 or emai l
.au . Alternatively please
feel free to contact the
school office and they will
pass on your details. I
have an account set up for
direct donations which can
