The Cruisair product range is the most complete in the industry and includes portable hatchtop air-cooled units for small vessels while dockside, built-in self-contained systems for sport cruisers, remote-condensing-unit systems (split gas) for large cruisers and motor yachts, and multi-ton tempered-water systems. Another exciting Cruisair product is fish-box refrigeration. Cruisair remote systems provide the greatest flexibility for larger boats.

The condensing unit, which includes the compressor and other mechanical

components is mounted in the engine room. Only the compact, quiet cooling/

heating unit goes in the living compartment. Cruisair offers a broad range of

cooling/heating units for installation behind bulkheads, under bunks, in narrow

lockers, beneath a flybridge or any other location. Copper tubing is used to carry

refrigerant between the condensing unit and the cooling/heating units. The system

is charged with refrigerant by a certified mechanic at installation. With Cruisair’s

top of the line modulating systems, you can run several cooling/heating units with

individual temperature cabin control, from a single condensing unit.

StowAway self-contained systems are ideal for smaller

boats in which engine room space is limited. All of the

system components, except for the seawater pump

and strainer, are built onto a single low-profile chassis.

It is normally installed under a berth, in a closet or any

other out-of-the-way location. Air is carried through

flexible ducts to air grills for discharge into one or more

compartments. StowAway systems are easy to install

in an existing boat, since the unit doesn’t take up much

space and it can be installed without disrupting the boat’s

interior. The system’s closed refrigerant loop is precharged

at the factory, and no field-charging is needed.

The Carry-On is the only hatchtop air conditioning unit

that’s designed specifically for the marine environment. It’s

ideal for boats that are too small for installed seawater-

cooled air conditioning systems. It installs in minutes and it

pumps out 6720 BTUs of cool, dry relief.

The Carry-On fits in any standard-size hatch. The

adjustable, waterproof hatch bag fits over the unit and the

hatch cover, sealing in the cool air and keeping out insects

and rain. There’s an adjustable leg and a convenient bubble

sight glass on the outside of the unit making it easy to level.

And when you leave the dock, the Carry-On stows below

deck, in your dockside locker or in the trunk of you car. All

operator controls are easily accessible on the bottom of

the unit. You can turn it off and on, set the thermostat and

adjust the fan speed from the cabin.

DC Air conditioning - Cuddy Cool

Cruisair tempered water systems are built for larger vessels over

80ft. These two-stage systems use circulated water as a heat transfer

medium. The cooled or warmed fluid is piped from the tempering unit

in the engine room to any number of air handling units throughout

the boat. The tempering unit is precharged with refrigerant at the

factory, and no field charging is needed at installation. Cruisair’s unique

reverse-cycle design provides very efficient heating even in relatively

cold seawater temperatures, in many cases eliminating the need for

separate heating systems. Cruisair offers a complete line of single-

compressor and staged multi-compressor designs for two tons and up.

water really shouldn’t be uncomfortable.Whether you’re fishing

with your family or on an outing with your friends, someone

invariably will need to get out of the sun on a hot summer day.

Cruisair’s new Cuddy Cool is a super-small, self contained 3500

Carry On Airconditioning

The Carry-On can be installed by just one person in a few minutes. No

special tools are needed. Simply place the Carry-On unit over an open

hatch, adjust the cloth hood snugly over the opening, plug it into your AC

power supply, and turn it on.

AT tempered water air handlers are draw-thru (ducted) units that

offer many significant improvements over existing air handler units

including: a sloped “Positive-Flow” drain pan which reduces standing

water; larger drain connections and an improved coil design for

better cooling and dehumidifying performance.

attractive wood-framed grilles to compliment beautiful yacht and

When the flush button or pedal is pushed, vacuum

action pulls the effluent from the toilet,

through the vacuum generator, and pushes it into the

holding tank. The vacuum generator takes about 30

U.R.O.C.The UROC — Universal Reverse Osmosis Controller —

is the latest advancement in marine desalination systems.

This proprietary, electronic controller provides a user-friendly

interface with customizable, automatic operation for various

applications and installations.

The technology allows you to program and operate your

watermaker from a remote display or computer. The UROC

gives you the ability to optimize system monitoring, schedule

maintenance and determine why a fault condition may have

occurred. It can be programmed to schedule unattended fresh

water flushes; to automatically stage-start the pumps for load

considerations, prime itself and begin to make water. The UROC

even allows for setting the amount of gallons produced or run

time limits. Select one of three Run Screens and it will give you

temperature and pressure readings, feed and product TDS, flow

rates and much more. With the UROC, watermaking has never

been more simple and clear.

PRIME screen: When the system is started, this screen indicates

the low-pressure pump is running, displays system voltage, low

pressure, reject rate and feed water TDS.

INITIATION screen: When all operation parameters are in line,

the high pressure pump engages, the screen will display: system

voltage, high and low pressure, reject GPM and production rate.

Additional UROC displays allow access to the same readings,

set points and display screens as the main panel from remote

locations. Run Screens will show pressure, production rates,

water quality and more.

A Sportfisherman’s Catch is valued treasure and must be kept ice cold fresh and safely packed beginning immediately upon landing the fish! This concept prompted Bill Grayson, founder of the Eskimo Ice Corporation, to design an icemaker with the ability to freeze fresh water and create crushed ice onboard a vessel. Refrigeration cycleCold is produced by the extraction of heat. In a refrigerator, the heat

is “absorbed” when the refrigerant changes from the liquid state to

the gaseous state in the evaporator. The kompressor draws in the

gaseous refrigerant, compresses it and passes it on to the

condenser. Here, the absorbed heat is released to the atmosphere.

The refrigerant reverts to the liquid state and �ows back to the

evaporator, where the whole cycle starts again.

Air cooling o�ers many advantages. Except for the water cooled CU-87 and CU-97 units, all ColdMachinecooling units are air-cooled. They release the heat to the atmosphere through a dynamically ventilatedcondenser. WAECO uses only brush-less, wear-free fans. Water-cooled units normally require additional equipmentand �tting, which, if not properly maintained, can be an additional source of technical risk. Even so, wedo recommend water cooling in a few special cases, e.g. where the cooling unit has to be installed inthe overheated engine room, or where the yacht will mostly be sailing in tropical waters. Otherwise, air-cooling is the more el egant and an equallye�cient solution, because the air temperature at the ship’s hull below the water line is barely higher than the water tempera ture.

The WAECO product range o�ers evaporators of di�erent shapes and designs. Here are a few tips: Thelarger the surface of an evaporator, the more heat it can absorb, and the greater its refrigeratingcapacity. With the same overall dimensions, lamellar evaporators have up to �ve times more surfacearea than plate evaporators and hence a higher performance. If the lamellar evaporator is equippedwith small fans, this increases the air exchange and also the performance. Such ventilatedevaporators ensure optimum cooling with low power consumption even in tropical waters. They are also ideal for deep-freeze refr igeration. Anyonerequiring only a small refrigerating capacity is equally well served with the less expensive plate-type evaporators. These o�e r the additional advantagethat ice cubes can be easily produced on the plate surface.

In our opinion, what really counts is not “air or water”, but the optimum combination of kompressor,evaporator and condenser as well as the appropriate installation location. WAECO o�ers a wide rangeof designs for all components, so that even the most awkwardly shaped space can be used. The bestlocation is below the water line, because here, the air is already cooled by the water temperature.During installation, it is necessary to ensure that the unit has adequate air circulation. This can beachieved by simple slots or holes, or by means of the air exhaust hood, which is available for series 80 and 90. The connection between the evaporatorand the kompressor/condenser unit is especially easy on WAECO products: the refrigerant hoses are by self-sealing valve couplin gs with a very smalldiameter.

Any refrigeration system consists of an evaporator, a condenser and a kompressor. If the system is towork e�ciently, the three components must be optimally coordinated. WAECO refrigerating systems onlyuse the power-regulated Danfoss kompressors BD35F and BD50F. These, combined with the factorsmentioned below, contribute signi�cantly to their highly e�cient design:

› The kompressor speed adapts precisely to the performance requirements of the other systemcomponents (evaporator and condenser).

› Both kompressor types can be supplied with plate and lamellar evaporators in diverse shapes and sizes. This ensures that ever y shape of containercan be equipped correctly. It also makes optimum use of the kompressor performance.

› The dynamically ventilated or water-cooled condenser units always guarantee the necessary heat di�usion.
