SDL Trados Studio 2009 was a major leap forward for translation groups, offering a modern inte-

grated translation environment with powerful tools to increase individual translator productivity.

With SDL Trados Studio 2014, source content can now be edited directly from thetranslation environment. For example, when working with scanned documents such aslegal contracts, characters can get incorrectly scanned leading to errors in the document.The newly introduced Source Editing enables translators to make quick edits to correct theproblem.

With advanced new Alignment technology to create translation memory from previouslytranslated documents. This powerful replacement of SDL WinAlign can make use of any fileformat supported by SDL Trados Studio.

3. Crystal clear reviewing

Review is an important part of any translation process. With SDL Trados Studio 2014, reviewing is easier

than ever before, while collaboration with subject matter experts, who might not be equipped withSDL Trados Studio, has also been simplified:

SDL Trados Studio features full track changes capability. Any change within the target can behighlighted, accepted or rejected, making the review process among Studio users clearer and easier.

When working with reviewers and subject matter experts who are not Studio users, translatorscan create a bilingual Word document for review within seconds. Full support for Microsoft WordTracked Changes means that subject matter reviewers can edit translations in Word using the TrackChanges feature and those edits can be shown within the translation environment when the file isreimported back in Studio 2014.

A further development that can streamline collaboration and review is the ability to open MicrosoftWord files which have tracked changes still activated. From a translator or reviewer point of view this

makes it really easy to show where the content differs from an old version. SDL Trados Studio 2014shows any change in the source segments so that translation can be easily and rapidly updated.Advanced Display Filters have also been added to enable translators and reviewers to focus only onthe updated segments that need the attention.

Thanks to the SDL Trados Studio community, file format definitions for other translation environmentsare now available via the SDL OpenExchange.

4. Work with the latest file types
