Who Qualifies For Services?

Children or youth who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence, including:

Sharing the housing of others due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or similar reason (“doubling up”)Living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, camping grounds due to the lack of adequate alternative accommodationsLiving in emergency or transitional sheltersAbandoned in hospitals

Awaiting foster care placementLiving in a public or private place not designed for humans to liveLiving in cars, parks, abandoned buildings, substandard housing, bus or train stations, or a similar settingMigratory children living in the above circumstancesUnaccompanied youth living in the above circumstances

The information is located on the 2nd page of the Student Enrollment form. The parent or guardian of each student is required to answer this question. If any answer other than Home ?apartment owned or rented by the parents/guardian is an indication that the student is homeless.

• Homeless – Unaccompanied Youth (a homeless student who is not living with a parent or guardian) valid entries are:

1. Homeless and unaccompanied

2. Homeless but not unaccompanied

3. Blank(N/A)-homeless but not unaccompanied

1. Shelters, transitional housing, awaiting foster care

2. Doubled up (living with another family)
