OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

To turn the control dial to desired concentration depress (push down) the locking lever on the

side of the control dial. Then turn control on the side of the control dial. Then turncontrol dial

counterclockwise to desired concentration. Vapor flow starts slightly past the ³0´ marking on

dial.

Turn vaporizer µoff¶ when not in use.

Periodically check the free agent level. The vaporizer should be refilled at appropriate intervals.

The vaporizer will function satisfactory as long as there is agent visible in the sight glass.

Do not fill vaporizer with any other agent than the one specified in thefront label. The

vaporizer is designed for that agent only. Any other agent than that specified can prove

to be dangerous to a patient.

Do not carry vaporizer by control knob. Use two hands, grasping body. Handle with

care.

Do not modify, tamper with or disassemble this precision instrument.

Do not immerse vaporizer in any liquid, including water.

Do not sterilize vaporizer.

Do not drain agent into any container other than a properly marked container.

Do not fill vaporizer unless the control knob is in the µoff¶ position.

FILLING AND DRAINING

W ARNING ± Do not fill vaporizer any other agent than the one specified on the

front label.

The vaporizer is designed for that agent only. Any other agent than the one

specified can prove to be dangerous to a patient.

The vaporizer should be filled and used in a upright position. Small deviations from the upright

position will not affect the output or the safety of the vaporizer, but because the agent depth is

shallow in relation t the diameter of the vaporizing chambermore frequent checks of the agent

levels should be carried out when small deviations from the uprightposition occur in order to

avoid obtaining a misleading impression of the amount of agent in the vaporizer.

It is a good practice when the liquid level is low, to drain the vaporizer of residual anaesthetic

agent. This wil l preserve drug purity but removing oxidized impurities, accumulated

contaminants and stabilizers. This small amount of liquid should be discarded.

At intervals ± ideally not exceeding two weeks ± the vaporizer should be drained into an

appropriately marked container when the liquidlevel is low and the liquid discarded. Less

frequent intervals may be used when the anaesthetic agent does not contain additives or stabilizing agents.

Screw cap filler.

To fill.

Dial should be in µOFF¶ position. Remove filler cap by turning cap counterclockwise. Be sure

drain plug is closed. Turn cap slowly if vaporizer is pressurized.

Verify liquid agent slowly into opening. Observe proper agent level troughsight glass mounted

on side.

If the vaporizer is dry the level will fall slightly as the wicks absorb the agent.

Replace cap by turning cap clockwise. Cap should be tight to prevent leaks.

To drain.

Dial should be in OFF position. Remove filler cap by turning cap counterclockwise.

Built into the top of the filler cap is a rectangular slot.

Turn filler cap upside down and place filler cap on stem located inside of the well.

Place properly marked container under nipple located at bottom of well.

Turn inverted cap counterclockwise opening the drain valve. After draining turn inverted cap

clockwise to close drain valve.

Remove filler cap. Turn around the replace into well.

SERVING AND REPAIR

SERVICING

Warning ± Do not modify, tamper with or disassemble the vaporizer because of the

dangers of damaging the unit and altering the accuracy of graduation.

Observation of the instructions given earlier, regular servicing, and normal professionalvigilance is normally all that is required to maintain the vaporizer in safe working condition.

Schedule.

Annually Cyprane recommend that the equipment should be serviced annually at a

Cyprane Authorized Service Centre.

The service comprises the following:

Complete disassembly of components.

Thorough cleaning.

Inspection for damage and wear.

Renewal of wicks, seals and damaged or worn i tems.

Lubrication where necessary.

The standard Cyprane service of a vaporizer includes checks of the deliveredvapor

concentration under closely defined conditions at several different temperatures,

and degradation or adjustment where necessary.

Cleaning

Never allow cleaning agents to accumulate in the filler or around the control dial, or enter the

gas inlet or outlet ports.

ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES

For field checking of the state of calibration many techniques are available ranging from

observing patient response to simple gravimetric or volumetric techniques to sophisticated

analyzers. Cyprane would not currently recommend any one technique in preference to others.
