When your son thinks that he knows all that more about this world. That is when he steps into the shelter and sees that he can learn more than he ever thought. Our activity we call the shelter is our wilderness survival program. We teach scouts how to cook, clean, identify danger and build shelters. All of these skills are essential to surviving the wilderness. These skills are taught with the sole purpose of camping, they also can be useful in everyday life. Knowing how to keep one’s environment clean is very important. When your environment is clean you know everything that’s around you is safe. Being a careful and cautious citizen is also a part of learning to survive the shelter. This means that everything done as well thought out and implemented according to that. The shelter is a very good and effective training tool to ensure that all Scott’s are safe. So

if your working world the shelter is something that is going to be a great program or learning all of the ropes.

In the BSA there is one place that every scout must go. That is to the waterfront. At the waterfront they will learn to swim, save lives and be generally self-sufficient. Learning to swim is an extremely important part of scouting. This Could mean the difference between having a great day we’re having a horrible year. On the waterfront we learn about what skills we have and what we need to work on. Once we find our limitations we work to lessen them. The more time we spend practicing scar swimming skills the better we get. Once we become as comfortable as we can possibly get in the water, we begin to expand our skills by using boats and other aquatic equipment. No matter the skill level when a young man joins our unit, we say that he cannot swim until he shows us his skill. This way, we will not make any mistakes and putting someone in a situation that

he cannot handle. That is why our aquatics program is named up the river. Because that is where a young man will be if he is put into a situation that he can be hurt. He will in fact be up the river without a paddle. Our young men are going to be trained to go and retrieve such a scout. We in fact will become the paddles to save those who are up the river. So safety is for you, this is one of the better and more rewarding programs that our unit can offer you.
