    MineralsPeople use minerals every day. A mineral is a

    nonliving solid found in nature. Minerals are the building blocks of rocks. Over 4,000 minerals occur naturally. Salt, gold, and silver are minerals. Minerals have properties you can observe. You can use properties to identify minerals. Mineral properties include hardness, luster, shape, color, and streak.

    Silver is used to make coins, tools, and jewelry.
