The William Carpenter 4-H Foundation has a long tradition of benefiting Scott County 4-H Youth. In 2015 the 4-H Foundation decided to diversify their assets as another method to continue to benefit the 4-H Youth by starting a fund with $50,000 through the Scott Community Foundation.

The William Carpenter 4-H Foundation is truly one of a kind. It has created a wealth of opportunity for Scott County 4-H’ers including grants

for members to attend camps and leadership conferences. The William Carpenter 4-H Foundation has also been instrumental in the construction

of facilities at the Scott County Fairgrounds including the William Carpenter 4-H Building and the Scott County Indoor Arena.

The William Carpenter 4-H Foundation was incorporated in 1955. It’s assets coming from a bequeath made from William and Zella Carpenter,

consisted of eight quarters of farm ground. Resources from the farm are allocated according to the judgement of the seven members of

the William Carpenter Foundation Board of Directors to best meet the needs and advance the interests of 4-H Club and older youth work of the Agricultural Extension Service of Scott County. The 4-H motto is “to make

the best better” and William and Zella Carpenter have surely accomplished that for the 4-H’ers of Scott County.
