Philo Farnsworth
invented television by
getting an idea from
looking at the rows of
neatly spaced crops on
his farm. He applied the
spacing concept to
creating rows of light
and dark spots on a
cathode ray tube to create images.

We’re used to looking at information one
way. To solve the problem, you have to
change the way you look at it by turning
it upside down, with the squarish zeros to
the left and the one to the right.
Then take the rightmost line from the
first zero and move it to the top of the
one to form a T. In the middle zero,
raise the bottom line to form an A.
Now you have CAT.

Take-Aways
• More than one way to solve a problem – keep your mind open.
• We’re all from different planets.
• Looking is not the same as seeing.
• Find the similarities between differences and across domains.
• Find inspiration everywhere, and connect seemingly unrelated
things by finding the commonalities, similarities, resemblance.
