Dear Parents,

We have reached the end of another busy year. This has

been a special year in many ways – we have been cele-

brating our 50th Anniversary and these celebrations will

culminate in October with a visit from the President of

Ireland , Mary McAleese. Thank you to all involved in a

myriad of projects throughout the year, especially Mr.

Brendan Smith from NUIG who instigated the work on

our school web site and online photo gallery – the first of

its kind and something to be proud of.

Much development has taken place in and around the

school over the year. This work will have major benefit in

the long term, so I thank the teachers, children and you

the parents for your patience during the development.

The final phase of building work will take place during

the summer, with the extension of the car park. This will

make the school entrance a lot safer for everyone.

As the big ‘tidy up’ starts in classrooms for the summer,

can you ensure that your child collects all his/her belong-

ings. Over the past number of years, a large collection of

clothes has been left unclaimed.

Finally, thank you to all the staff, parents and children

for your help, support, co-operation and hard work

throughout the year. It has made Scoil Bhríde a vibrant

and happening place. We look forward to working with

you again next year. Have a great holiday and we will

see you all on September 4th.

The Lambert Puppet Theatre made a welcome visit to the Town Hall recently. The Early

Start class and 1st class went to see the show. It began with the music of Bosco, which

created excitement in both children and teachers alike! I think some teachers had

more fond memories of Bosco than the children! The show was fantastic and very loud

with children shouting and screaming in pantomime style. Bosco provided the warm

up act and he was followed by Cinderella and her very ugly sisters. The story was told

very well and we met mice and rats and lots of other characters. It all ended happily

with a joyful group of children returning to school shouting “Cinderella do this, Cinder-

ella do that!”
