Offertory Collection: $ 8,593.00 Electronic Funds Transfer: 860.00 Total: $ 9,453.00

Thank you for your continued generosity!

Missionary Cooperative Appeal: On Labor Day weekend, September 3rd & 4th, Sister Lisa Marie Valentini, MSC, a Mis-sionary Sister of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, who has been working in Mission countries for more than 30 years, will visit us here at St. Mary’s to share with us about the Missions on behalf of her Congregation. The MSC Sisters were founded in 1900, specifically to be missionaries, and are currently serving in 21 countries throughout the world. May our gratitude for the gift of our FAITH be reflected by our generosity in the 2nd collection on the weekend of the Appeal, knowing that in this way we will share in the Mission work of our Church and support the MSC Sisters throughout the world.

GRAND ANNUAL COLLECTION: The Parish Finance Council and I have decided to suspend the Grand Annual Collection for this year in lieu of our parish’s capital campaign, the Centennial Campaign. We were waiting for the results of the feasibility study done in June before making this announcement, but un-fortunately, the Grand Annual envelopes had already been mailed out in the monthly packets. If you have not already done so, please discard these envelopes. If you have already contrib-uted to the Grand Annual Collection, thank you for your gener-osity. Fr. Cannon

St Mary of the Nativity Scituate MA

FRIDAY, SEPT. 2ND IS FIRST FRIDAY... First Fridays are a devotional practice honoring the Sacred Heart of Jesus in which members of the Church observe the first Friday of each month by receiving Holy Communion. Accord-ing to the promises which it is claimed Jesus

made to St. Margaret Mary Alocoque, those who follow this practice for nine consecutive months will be granted special graces such as final perseverance in faith and the consola-tion of Christ's love in their final hour. Adoration and Exposi-tion of the Blessed Sacrament will follow the 7:30 a.m. Mass and end with Evening Prayer and Benediction at 4:45 p.m.

THE FIVE FIRST SATURDAYS - On De-cember 10, 1925, Our Lady promised Sister Lucia of Fatima that she would "assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who on the first Satur-days of five consecutive months confess, receive Holy Communion, pray a rosary,

and keep me company for a quarter of an hour meditating on the fifteen mysteries with the intention of offering me reparation."

FIRST SATURDAY ROSARY – Come pray the Rosary on Saturday September 3rd at 4:00 p.m. in the main church in front of our Blessed Mother. Our prayer intentions will be for World Peace and Conversion of Hearts and sinners, as well as all you hold dear in your hearts. Rosary prayer cards and beads will be provided.

Saint Mary of the Nativity has embarked on an unprecedented project that will begin to address the current needs of our parish. Campaign priorities include:

Replacing the boiler and installing air conditioning Fixing the church and chapel entrances Repairing the rectory roof, chimneys, and deck Growing the building reserve Enhancing outreach and programs

In order to meet these needs, we have set a minimum goal of $750,000 through pledges made over five years. To date, we have raised over $350,000 for this effort at St. Mary’s! This is an incredible accomplishment and our thanks go out to those who have supported such a successful endeavor. We have more to do though, as we have yet to receive a decision from EVERYONE at St. Mary’s.

A group of dedicated parishioners serving on behalf of Father Cannon has worked hard over the past month, and will continue to work hard in the coming month, to reach out to as many parishioners as possible. Every family is invited to participate in this historic campaign. When that time comes, please consider your support with an open heart and pray for our success as we move forward. On September 11 we will have Commitment Sunday, which is the opportunity for every parishioner to learn more and contribute in their own way.

RCIA What do these people have in com-mon? Actor Alec Guinness, composer Johann Christian Bach, writer G.K. Ches-terton, jazz great Dave Brubeck, presiden-tial candidate Jeb Bush, actor Gary

Cooper, activist Dorothy Day, Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman, novelist Graham Greene, first American saint Eliz-abeth Ann Seton, composer Gustav Mahler, actor John Wayne, poet Gerard Manley Hopkins, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair? They are all converts to the Catholic faith! Interested in becoming Catholic? St. Mary’s RCIA program will start again in the Fall! RCIA is the Church’s program for welcoming non-Catholics who wish to learn about and join our Church. Fallen-away Catholics seeking to return to the faith (like drummer Terry Chimes of The Clash) are also welcome. Anyone interested in partici-pating in the RCIA program for 2015-2016 are encouraged to read the Gospel of Luke and Acts of the Apostles this summer, and mark your calendars for our first meeting which will be sometime in September. To let us know of your interest, and for more information about RCIA and adult faith formation, please contact Jane Kuklis at the Parish Center, or Bob O’Connell at [email protected]

WOULD YOU PRAY FOR A PRIEST EACH DAY? The Monthly Prayer Request for Priests (MPRP) is an in-ternational apostolate which was founded in 1990 to en-courage people to support Catholic priests by prayer and sacrifice. The August/September MPRP calendars for the Archdiocese of Boston are available in the entrances of the church and chapel. Won’t you join in praying for a priest a day?

MEETING CHRIST IN PRAYER is an 8 week guided prayer experience based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. It calls for a commitment of eight weeks of daily prayer and faith sharing. The Office of Spiritual Life is offering this pro-gram at The Pastoral Center, 66 Brooks Drive, Braintree on Wednesday evenings, September 21 through November 9, 7:00-8:15pm.
