PROJECT DESCRIPTION

JCRC sub-granted Extended Hands Uganda (EHU) to implement HIV/AIDS care, treatment and support services for a period of eleven months. The project aims at strengthening HIV/AIDS care, treatment and support services geared towards increasing access and utilization of HIV/AIDS care and support services, this project is being implemented through the existing community structures such as VHTs, PHAs networks as well as health facilities in Ogur, Ojwina & Central Division which are the project destined areas

Specific Objectives

• To coordinate provision of appropriate HIV care, treatment and support services to PHAs in Lira district by December 2014.

• Strengthen referrals, community linkages and partnerships for improved HIV/AIDS care , treatment and support services in Lira district by 2014.

• To ensure that TB suspected cases are provided HCT and appropriately linked to care.

Challenges• Inadequate carbonated referral forms this at

times make it impossible even though there is need for referral.

• The IEC materials were not distributed this quarter, this made us spend a lot of time in explanations that could be simplified with the help of IEC materials.

Recommendations

• SCIPHA’s national team through the regional team should provide adequate carbonated referral forms so as to enable our VHTS make referrals to our valuable clients.

• The regional team should liaise with the national team so as to have appropriately communicating IEC materials in place for our clients.
