Sebastian Irarrázaval was born in Santiago,Chile, in 1967. He received his degree in Architecture fromthe Universidad Católica de Chile in 1991. He received aBritish Council scholarship for graduate studies in 1993and studied urbanism at the AA School in London. In 1999,he received the AOA (Architecture Offices Association)award bestowed for the most outstanding young architect.He has taught at design studios of the School of Architecturein the Universidad Católica de Chile since 1994. He hasalso taught at the University of Arizona, Universidad Centralde Caracas and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.He has participated in the architecture biennales ofSantiago, Mexico and Venice and has exhibited his workat the UIA in Barcelona. Recently, he exhibited his ownworks in the exhibition “Young Iberoamerican Architects”at Harvard University and in “'Contemporary Space inChile”organized by the Catalonian Architects Union inBarcelona and the Venice Biennale. Currently he is workingon the design of experimental dwellings and a hotel inPatagonia.
