T he last decade has been one of the most turbulent in our history. Opposing ideologies, violent revolutions and a frail social economic structure have subjected more than one-third of the world’s population

to oppression, poverty and brutal human rights violations. Terrorism and a global economic crisis rips at the very fabric of society, propagating a mindset governed by hysteria, fear and anxiety.

The United Nations reported that in one recent year natural and man-made disasters affected the lives of some 208 million people. The world’s largest network of disaster relief organizations was only able to reach 15 percent of them at that time. What about the rest?

EXTENDING HELP TO ANYONE, ANYWHERE

L. Ron Hubbard initiated the Volunteer Minister program after observing that crime and violence in society were rising in proportion to the decline of religious influence. With tools and practical solutions for helping others available for anyone, the Volunteer Minister programme extends unconditional help in reflection of the motto “Something can be done about it.”

Needed was a way to help others live their lives and build their futures. In answer, Mr. Hubbard drew the plans for a grassroots movement, one that would instill these values back into society and so halt the decline: the Scientology Volunteer Ministers Programme.

Collaborating with some 1,000 organizations and agencies, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers have utilized their skill and experience in providing physical support and spiritual aid at hundreds of disaster sites.

Today’s Volunteer Minister program focuses on emergency response training in communities before disaster strikes. They accomplish this through traveling exhibits and seminar facilities self-contained in the distinctive yellow tents of Volunteer Minister Cavalcades and Goodwill Tours.

Volunteer Ministers train citizens in local areas to respond to any man-made or natural disasters or other challenges that may affect an individual, family or community. Imparting 19 separate bodies of technology from The Scientology Handbook, a comprehensive manual of Scientology fundamentals, Volunteer Ministers teach how to relieve suffering and trauma, resolve problems, handle crises and mend relationships, whether within a family or among nations. They bring practical solutions to real-life concerns. Including how to establish any organization, maintain effective communication and achieve community goals.

TOOLS FOR LIFE SOLUTIONS FOR EVERY ASPECT OF LIFE

Every Volunteer Minister is trained in 19 life skills courses that put him in a position where he is ready to handle any of life’s disasters. These are the Tools for Life and as knowledge is power, this is real empowerment. Volunteers then learn to use these tools in the workshop of life until they come to demonstrable competence.

Building these skills while helping others not only nurtures a love for volunteerism, it builds self worth and confidence.

These are skills that can see one through to success for the rest of one’s life.

This training is offered free to anyone of whatever age, gender, race, color or religion.
