After reading Read Leaf, Yellow Leaf & Waiting for Wings (BookFlix) take local plant clippings to create a collage with illustrations or diagrams of butterflies. Use adjectives to describe the collage. The students could use technology (iPads or Publisher) to photograph and create collages with the descriptions. After reading Kaito’s Cloth, student can design their own butterfly wings Create class thinking maps to show the relationship between plants and animals. Record observations of the class butterflies in a science journal. Create a flip book to describe the changes. Use iPad to record observations of life cycle phases and use this information to make a digital book on butterflies using the Book Creator app.
