FlexiBuzz If you have not done so already, please ensure you update your FlexiBuzz selections for 2018 to include the Whole School. Make sure you include your child ’s current Year Level and Home Group so that you do not miss out on important updates that are relevant to your child.

Sentral Parent Portal App Flexibuzz will be phased out by the end of this year and

all communications will be sent out primarily through the

Sentral Parent Portal App. Using the Sentral App gives

the school the ability to communicate information to each

year level, small groups or individual families, at the school's discretion. It allows

for private messaging between parents, students and teachers. Parents will

have the ability to report future absences and notify the school of absences and

further down the track, even book parent/teacher meeting times. Please ensure

you have the Sentral App on your phone, device or computer and have created

login details.

Interschool chess competition term 3

On Thursday 6th September Kingsley Park Primary School were proud to host another Interschool Chess Competition. Six schools were involved with a total of 104 students competing. The schools were; Wooranna Park, Silverton Primary, Toorak College, Moorooduc Primary, Woodleigh Primary and Kingsley Park. The players ranged from juniors to seniors. Our top players were Jett and Cooper who both received medals for their individual outstanding performance. Two schools had enough students to enter two teams so there were eight teams competing for a 1st, 2nd or 3rd placing. Kingsley Park came 7th as the competition was very tough with our team playing against teams that had already qualified for the state finals. Wooranna Park Primary came first, Silverton Primary came second and Toorak College came third. The photo below is of our team who competed. All these students need to feel very proud of themselves for their great skills in resilience, getting along and confidence .

The photo directly above is of Ashby, Alex and Liam who were kept busy entering the scores players earned when completing their chess games. The other photos are of our KPPS students busy working hard to try and win their games. Ms Reed would like to thank all the teachers and students who helped set up the hall with tables and chairs for the competition. Chess Club is held on Wednesdays with Ms Reed at lunchtime in the BER.

When is the event and where?

The official start of event is Thursday 22nd November and finishes on Saturday 24th November. RACV Energy

Breakthrough is held in Maryborough, which is located approximately 3 hours from Frankston in Northern

Victoria.

Sponsorship

Throughout the year students are asked to approach businesses to gain sponsorship. It is important that

parents assist students with gaining sponsorship as it helps to purchase parts and make modifications to the

vehicles built. Sponsorship in the past has also allowed us to provide meat for a BBQ on one night of the

Breakthrough. Sponsorship can also be cash or items which can be used for our raffle.

Sponsors

We would like to thank the following sponsors for supporting our 2018 Energy Breakthrough.

RACV Energy Breakthrough Challenge is

a program designed to provide

students, teachers, parents and local

community the opportunity to work

together to design and construct a

vehicle to represent Kingsley Park

during the challenge.

Kingsley Park Primary School is entering a

team of 8 Year 6 students into the Human

Powered Vehicle (HPV) Try-athlon

category and 1 team of 8 students into

the Pushcart category.

Visit our website at

www.kingsleypark.vic.edu.au

Read the class updates in the curriculum section to be more informed of what your child is learning in their area. More blogs are underway but ensure you have a look at the Preps — Its fantastic.

Remember: Once a week, take a peek!

A reminder to please check your child/ren's hair regularly for head lice, we have had a few more cases reported. We don't have many as our parents are so good at tying hair back. Each morning on duty I am impressed with the many varieties of braids and 'up-dos' that I see, keep up the great work. Please ensure long hair is tied back (both girls and boys) to help reduce the chances of getting head lice.

School Uniforms are compulsory

A number of students this term have been coming to school regularly

wearing the wrong jumpers. It is an expectation that all students

wear their school uniforms daily. Students will not be allowed out of

the school on excursions whilst not wearing their uniforms.

A reminder to drivers in the school

vicinity during drop-off and pick-up

times - please remember our children’s

safety comes first and road rules together

with signage should be observed. The

council have been made aware of

recent concerning issues and will be

patrolling the area.

Thank you

On Friday 26th October all Kingsley Park students and staff will participate in the ‘Day for

Daniel’ walk. This annual Day for Daniel Walk is the fourth year Kingsley Park has been involved in organising a community event, that emphasises and supports the safety of all children through the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. The week is also ‘Children’s Week’ where students will be involved in safety lessons derived from the Daniel Morcombe Curriculum with the key message of the three R’s: Recognise, React, Report. The key learning outcomes for the week are: Teaching children about safe behaviours, how to navigate their way through unfamiliar or unsafe situations, listening to their own body cues and establishing a safety network of trusted adults. Senior students will also be involved in a safety talk from a local police officer. Everyone is encouraged to wear a red t-shirt and will be provided with a red or white ribbon to wear. Hats are compulsory for all children. Families are invited and encouraged to join in this event. The walk commences from the front of the school at 12 pm walking to Robinson Reserve and back accompanied by the fabulous support of the SES, helping us cross roads and other Emergency Services available on the day. A picnic lunch on the oval will follow. Students bring their own lunch and drink. Lunch orders are available for parents also on the day, please order them along with your child’s in the morning.
