keystages• Experiential learning in EYFS• New Curriculum is in place and has been aligned to topics. There will be

some discrete science when there are direct links to topics.• New Assessment system – from Dr Tom – to be implemented in

September (Working Scientifically is being trialled this week).• Science Week – by the end – clear assessment of ‘Working Scientifically’

skills across the school. • Children have used a range of sources to research their science issues

(books, internet, first hand experience – trips and explorations)• Children are enthusiastic about their science learning (both girls & boys)• Good links are made with other subjects – real cross-curricular approach

ScienceAreas of Development

• Science needs to remain in focus next year – bring it back to core!

• Much greater emphasis on practical work and hypothesising (planning, doing & reviewing in terms of working scientifically)

• Precision differentiation needed – more able need identifying & challenging (clear from standards)

• Consider running a Science Club
