SCHOOL OF PSYCHOLOGY
Head of School: Professor David Wilkinson School Web Site: www.kent.ac.uk/psychology
Please refer to the online Module Catalogue for full details of all modules:

Note: It is ultimately your responsibility to ensure that you are registered for the correct modules for your programme. Students should ensure that their optional modules are as equally balanced as possible between the Autumn and Spring terms. Although we do our best to make sure you get some of your choices, because some modules are more popular than others and we cannot run any module with too few students, we cannot always guarantee it. The programmes listed here are accredited by the British Psychological Society as conferring eligibility for Graduate Membership of the Society with Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, provided you pass the empirical psychology project and gain at least a Second Class Honours degree. This is the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist. All the following modules must be taken in order to qualify for BPS recognition: SP500, SP528, SP529, SP604, SP605, SP619, SP620, and one of SP581, SP582, SP583 or SP600.

During this time your work is under the joint supervision of an academic supervisor in the School of Psychology and your placement supervisor. 50% of the marks awarded for this year are based on performance on the placement, a Reflective Diary (marked on a pass/fail basis) and a poster presentation given in October about the placement experience (SP617). The remaining 50% of marks come from the report of a research project conducted whilst on placement (SP618). The research report and the Reflective Diary must be handed in to the Psychology Student Office at the beginning of September before the Autumn Term of Stage 3. The programme offers the opportunity to obtain a Qualifying Law Degree, recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board as satisfying the first (or 'Academic') stage of training required to qualify as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales. Prospective students should be aware that the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board are conducting independent reviews of the legal training and education required to qualify as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales. These reviews cover the 'Academic Stage' of training and may impact upon the role of the law degree as part of the training process. Please see the website of each regulator for more information (www.sra.org.uk/t4t and www.barstandardsboard.org.uk).
