As we bring to close the month of September and are well into the “new” school year, I am aware of the increasing need for, and the many volunteers who provide time and gifts to ASCS; and, we, as a school community depend on committed volunteers to assist the internal faculty and staff in educating and forming the children. This awareness hit home with me again when I read of a professional association, who in the interest of best practice, moved from member personal benefit language, “what do I get for my dues” where an association tries to list all of the perks to belonging in order to attract members, to a common value language where members join as an expression of their common commitment to strengthen the long- term value of and advance of the profession. What I see in ASCS with our volunteers, so many of them parents, is that same movement from only “what do I get for my tuition” to “how can we together create and foster a faith, academic and service environment for our children for the long-term value of Catholic education and formation for ALL our SAINTS in the making and SAINTS in training.” It is a subtle lan- guage shift yet powerful movement toward ownership of and commitment to the school. It is one I experience in my conversations with parents who bring ideas to the table to help me do my job more effectively. It is one I experience when children come to me to suggest a new club, sport, activity or an idea of ways to increase kindness among the student body. It is one I experience when parents take leadership roles on committees, assisting with the auction, ordering Scrip, using Vigeo, and attending our all school events. It is one I experience when I see photos on Face- book of our sports teams with the long list of volunteer coaches. It is one I experience when our faculty and staff at- tend events involving the children outside of the school day. It is one I experience at Mass when the children and adults present, pray together our Lord’s Prayer. It is one I experience in our parishes who are committed to Catholic education. It is one I experience in the pastors and retired priests who celebrate Mass on a weekly basis for the school community. I invite you to make a shift and think differently about our school by asking yourself, what gifts do I have to share that will help create and foster a faith, academic and service environment for our children and for Catholic education? “I invite you to become Saints” Scatter Joy! All Saints Catholic School families: As we begin a new school year we continue to look for ways to spread the word and JOY of being a part of All Saints Catholic School. Word of mouth has proven time and again to be a family’s initial source of pursuing infor-

mation about our school. We hope that you, as a current (or former) All Saints Catholic School family will share your testimony. We want to show the difference ASCS has made in your son or daughter's life, your family's life and/or the differ-ence you've seen in high school after your child has graduated. If you are a new family, perhaps it is what initially made you choose ASCS, if you are not new to ASCS, what is it about our school that continues to be the choice for you to send your child here? Here are some questions to consider when formulating your response: 1) What difference does ASCS have on your child and your family? 2) (If alumni or in upper grades), how has ASCS prepared your child for High School? What is the tangible impact in English, Math and Science? 3) Why did your family choose ASCS -- especially with so many choices? 4) What do you like most about the ASCS education? 5) (If a teacher), what difference have you seen in ASCS students in high school? Your testimonial will be used in various ways including our school website, facebook, or other print media for our school. Some

testimonials will also be chosen for video version. (We will be in touch directly with those that are selected). Please send your reply using the instructions below: Email your family picture and testimonial to Sue Wendorf by Friday, October 7, 2016. [email protected]

In the subject line include your family name, the parish you belong to (if applicable), and the word “testimonial” (ie. Smith-

Mt. Carmel-testimonial).

In the email attach your family picture.

In the email include your testimonial (A short paragraph is great, and if you have more that’s fine too!) If you prefer to give video testimonial, please submit using the same criteria.

We would love to have full participation with the words and faces of all our ASCS families! If you have questions, please contact Sue Wendorf [email protected] (262)925-4024

October 2nd, 9:15-10:15 AM, St. Mary Parish, Bell Hall

Richard Aiello - will be presenting a session focusing on "How parents can help guide

their children to stay clear form the destructive behaviors that may be surrounding

their teenage years." For the past 27 years, Dick has taught or has been an adminis-

trator in our Kenosha schools. He has worked with teenagers from all walks of life.

He will offer his thoughts on how we can parent our kids through their teenage years,

keep them healthy and safe, and continue a good relationship with them.
