Gap Analysis Safe Internet UseHaving done research based on surveys completed by students, parents and staff on School Safety, we found that all parents felt that their daughters were safe at SJMP. Student survey indicated that a small number (approximately 10%) felt they had been involved in some aspect of cyber-bullying or were unaware of Internet safety precautions. Based upon this feedback, we need to continue to address this issue with all resources available to our school community.

In the secondary division, the rites of passage are significant. Entering grade 9, the student leaves behind her identification with childhood and leaving high school, the student enters her world of independence. As a high school and the community in which these changes evolved, it is necessary for the social and emotional growth of the student and family to formally address and participate in traditional rituals. These rituals may be duplicated by several generations, as is the case at SJMP, and thereby stronger connections are made within families and social groups.
