Statement from University of Maryland

If the student provides documentation such as an

official transcript from FCC that the student

completed EN101 while in high school, the credits

will transfer to UMD. Also if this is for a student

who will be applying as a freshmen for Fall 2016

consideration, they will just want to make sure to

provide documentation to UMD that they are taking

the EN101 course or if the information is noted on

the student's high school record in some manner,

this will help with the freshmen application process.

Who may be interested and what does it

entail

Anyone with an interest in engineering

Wanting an opportunity to take a sequence of courses that will

expose them to the first principles of engineering

hands-on learning where students work through various

engineering discipline stations at their own pace

engage in upper level math, science and IT courses offered at THS

Most Program completers will pursue additional educational

opportunities, while others may proceed directly into the

workforce.

Pre-Engineering Program

The following courses are required in order to graduate

from the Pre-Engineering Program:

· Pre-Engineering 1 *

· Pre-Engineering 2

· Pre-Engineering 3

· Pre-Calculus

· Physics (either Algebra Based Physics, Honors Physics, or

AP Physics)

In Addition

2 elective courses that include: high level math, science,

technology education, or informational technology

courses. These courses must be sanctioned for each

student by the Pre-Engineering Program Advisory Board.

See Program Coordinator for details.

In addition, it is highly suggested, but not mandatory, that

students planning on majoring in engineering at the

collegiate level complete calculus and a computer

programming course prior to graduation.

FCPS/ FCC Articulation Agreement

Any student who completes all 3 Pre-Engineering

courses with a ‘B’ or higher in each as well as Pre-

Calculus will receive credit for EG 100

(Introductory Engineering Science) at FCC

provided he or she takes another FCC class. It is

possible that these credits could then be

transferred to four-year universities as elective

credits.
