The Center is excited to host several Senior Winter Games
events this year in order to accommodate these events the
following schedule changes have been made:
Thursday, February 13th afternoon line dancing will be held in
the craft room.
Friday, February 14th there will not be Lifetime Fitness or
Regular Euchre

FEBRUARY FUN FACTS!

• Some people are allergic to or have breathing issues when exposed to
perfumes/odors so please be considerate when applying
lotions/perfumes/colognes
• Some people have weakened immune systems so please stay home if you
are ill while we like sharing there are some things that are better not shared!
LIFETIME BODY FITNESS
Lifetime Body Fitness is program that focuses on strengthening every muscle in your body. You
do not need to be a fitness guru to take this class! Class schedule is as follows: 10-Week Session
begins in the Spring until then free video classes will be held
Level I: Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:30am
Level II: Monday, Wednesday, Friday:9:30am
LEARN TO LINE DANCE
Join Norma on Thursdays from 1:45-2:45PM. No experience necessary. Line dancing is a great
way to have fun and exercise at the same time. Cost is $3.00 per class.
ADVANCED LINE DANCING
Join Norma on Mondays at 12:00 or 6:00pm and Thursday at 6:00pm.
Line Dancing is a great way to have fun and exercise at the same time.
VOLLEYBALL
Join in on a volleyball game. It is a great way to have fun and get exercise.
Volleyball meets on Mondays at 10:45am
ZUMBA GOLD
The center is pleased to announce the return of Zumba!
Join certified Zumba instructor Kimberly on Fridays from 1:00-2:00pm for an hour
of fun and exercise! Cost is only $5.00 per class or you can purchase a 5 class
punch card for $20
WALKING CLUB
Want to walk in a safe and climate controlled environment? Come in to the center on Tuesdays
from 11:00-12:00pm. Please make sure you scan your key card and select Walk 500 Miles during
your visit.
ARTHRITIS EXERCISE
The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program is a low-impact physical activity program proven to
reduce pain and decrease stiffness. The routines include gentle range-of-motion exercises that are
suitable for every fitness level.
Classes will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00-11:00am.
TAI CHI
Join our Tai Chi group at 2:00pm on Mondays
FLOOR AND WALL YOGA
Feel Young, Have Fun and Stay Fit!
This class tones your entire body with stretches that also improve posture, flexibility and balance.
Learn how to safely lengthen and strengthen your spine, the body’s lifeline, key to maintaining a
strong core and upper body.
We begin with floor poses that gently warm up our neck and shoulders, then use the wall to securely
support our legs, relieving muscle and joint pain, while releasing tension and stress. Join Certified
Yoga Instructor Julietta Chevalier in this playful yoga class designed to relax and rejuvenate your
mind, body and spirit.
Please bring a bottle of water and yoga mat to class. Wednesdays: 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Cost: $40 for Six Weeks or $10 Drop in
BOOK DISCUSSION CLUB
Join our wonderful book discussion club on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 10:00am.
WATERCOLOR
The Watercolor class is offered on Tuesdays from 9:30am-11:30am.
New Classes will begin Tuesday, February 4th. Cost is $30
AMERICAN MAH-JONGG CLASSES
Zelma will offer free mah-jongg classes on Tuesdays at 1:00. These classes are open to newbies
or anyone that would like a refresher course.

Our mah-jongg group meets on Thursdays and Fridays at 12:30pm.

Our Chinese Mah-Jongg meets on Tuesdays at 9:00am

Join chess champ Don Vandivier on Tuesdays at 12:45pm.

MICAFE FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
MICAFE, Michgan’s Coordinated Access to Food for the Elderly, helps adults 60 and older apply for
a Bridge Card. The Bridge Card may be used to purchase food, so that the senior can afford other
essentials, such as medicine. If you would like more information, please contact the office.

Looking for something to break up your day? Join one of our great card groups-
they are always looking for new players!
MONDAY BRIDGE: No partner needed. Play starts at 12:30pm every Monday
EUCHRE: Play starts at 12:30pm on Tuesdays and Fridays
PINOCHLE: Play starts at 12:30pm every day of the week. Please call
TUESDAY BRIDGE: Play starts at 6:00pm every Tuesday
COMMODITIES AND EMERGENCY FOOD PROGRAM (TEFAP)
Are you in need of food assistance? The center offers monthly and quarterly food distribution for
income qualifying seniors. Commodities are distributed the 3rd Wednesday of every month from
10:00am-12:00pm. TEFAP is distributed every 3rd month on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from
10:00am-12:00pm. Call the office for income guidelines.
MEDICAL LOAN CLOSET
The center’s loan closet is available Monday-Friday from 8:00am-12:00pm. If you or someone you
know is in need of a durable medical good (walker, shower chair, cane, etc.) the center might have
what you are looking for. If you have durable medical goods that you no longer need, the center is
happy to accept them. Please keep the sharing circle going!
SENATOR DAVE ROBERTSON
Senator Dave Robertson will hold office hours at the center on Friday, February 21st at 1:00pm.
Please feel free to stop by and ask questions or voice your concerns.
Identity Theft Presentation
Jake Collins will be at the center on Thursday, February 6th at 1:30pm to share information on
identity theft. Please call to reserve your spot!
MICHIGAN SENIOR BRIGADE PHONE/MAIL SCAMS PRESENTATION
Join Zana Macki from the Michigan Senior Brigade on Thursday, February 20th at 1:00pm to hear
the latest updates on phone and mail scams and how not to become a victim. Please reserve your

WELLSPRING LUTHERAN SERVICES PRESENTATION
Elizabeth MacFarland, from Wellspring Lutheran Services will be here to teach us about the benefits
of different therapies. Some of those therapies include, pet therapy, massage therapy, aroma

Our MMAP volunteer can assist you with your medicare/medicaid questions and concerns.
Our MMAP Counselor is available by appointment on Tuesdays and Fridays. Call the center at
695-3202 to set up an appointment.
SENIOR CENTER TRANSPORTATION:
The center van is available 5 days per week by appointment only.
COST FOR ROUND-TRIP TRANSPORTATION IS $2.00. ANY ADDITIONAL STOPS ARE
$1.00 PER STOP AND MUST BE SCHEDULED AT TIME OF ORIGINAL APPOINTMENT.
The bus travels within the Grand Blanc School District area. Please make appointments at
least 24 hours in advance. The van schedule is as follows:
Monday-Friday 8:00am-1:00pm by appointment only
BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS
The center provides FREE blood pressure screenings every Tuesday from 12:00pm-2:00pm.
Please make sure to scan your key card during your visit.
FREE HEARING SCREENINGS
Michigan Otolaryngology & Facial Plastic Surgery Associates will be providing FREE hearing testing
on Wednesdays every other month from 11:30-12:30. The dates for 2014 are as follows:
February 12th, April 16th, June 25th, August 20th, October 29th, December 17th.

ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT GROUP
The center is partnering with the Alzheimer’s Association to offer a monthly Alzheimer’s support
group. The group will meet on the last Wednesday of every month from 6:00-8:00pm.
KNITTING FOR A CAUSE
Join our knitting/crocheting group and help make a difference. Our wonderful group meets on
Thursdays from 9:00am-11:00am. Some of the projects are hats and gloves for kids,
caps for preemies and soldiers. Donations of yarn and/or supplies are appreciated.
