Creating an Index of confidence for Mental Imagery

Andrew Johnson, Ph.D. Historically, measuring mental imagery has been a challenge for researchers because there is no direct way of observing

it. More specifically I have gathered participants’ data in which they are given an outline of the continental United States

(no state boundaries are depicted) and asked to write in the states’ abbreviations “as large as possible being 100 percent

confident that the abbreviations will be inside the states’ boundaries.” My presentation will focus on a new measurement

of mental imagery and confidence by using pixel counts and an open-source image manipulation program – GIMP 2.8.

TLP Partnership with Park University: Transitional Living and Collegiate Success

Tami Radohl, Ph.D. Synergy Services, Park University, and Truman Behavioral Health recently developed a partnership to: 1) find creative

solutions to transition youth out of shelters; 2) engage youth in secondary education; 3) create new social support

networks for youth; and 4) create a model that other communities could adapt for similar housing concerns. Four youth

live on campus and are enrolled in coursework for the second year in a row. Park is offering scholarships; Synergy

provides social and health services; and Truman provides behavioral health resources and support as needed. In this

presentation, a brief synopsis of the current project, outcomes, and lessons learned (includes strengths and opportunities

for growth), will be explored.
