The SCB is the Governing Body for the sport of Cricket in Shropshire and a constituent member of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The SCB was formed in 1997 although Cricket has been played in the County since 1829. We have a long heritage and history that caters for Male and Female Cricket as well as Youth Development, Coaches, Umpires and Scorers amongst many other things. Head Office is based in Wellington, Telford (Wrekin College). The SCB is a company limited by guarantee that also holds Charitable Status. The SCB has a comprehensive Action Plan for 2016-2019 based on 8 key aspects of Cricket in Shropshire as follows - Increasing Participation, Performance, Workforce and Facility Development, Competitions, Communications and Commerciality, Women’s and Girls Cricket and Good Governance The SCB has a number of delivery partners including but not exclusive to – Shropshire cricket clubs Shropshire County Cricket League District Cricket Development Groups (South, Central-East / Central-West) Council Sports Partnerships - Eg. Energize Groundsman’s Association Shropshire Association of Cricket Officials Shropshire Coaches Association Women and Girls Club Development Group YOUR AUDIENCE There are 70+ Clubs affiliated to the SCB. 11,000 young players are affiliated to the SCB through our programmes and another 4000 senior players play weekly in the Summer. 140 teams (men’s) and 15 teams (women’s) are affiliated to the SCB playing ECB and SCB competitions all over the county and country. The SCB communicates with its clubs on a monthly basis via newsletter (1500+ recipients). The SCB supports the Shropshire League structures of 13 Divisions The SCB enters all the national ECB competitions from U13 to Over 60! It also oversees all Junior Club and Schools Cricket Teams in the County often producing County Winners who go on to higher levels of ECB Competitions. The SCB has a formal partnership with Worcestershire County Cricket Club for our elite boys academy programme and Warwickshire County Cricket Club for our talented girls programmes. Both links afford marketing and ticketing opportunities for sponsors and partners at County and International Cricket. Most importantly Cricket is a ‘Sport for All’ with the age profile ranging from 4 to 70+. Matches played weekly throughout the County – Winter and Summer High integrity and forward thinking Staff with dedicated Board of Directors as volunteers overseeing the SCB. WHY NOW? In 2015 the SCB had another successful season in the highest standards of cricket in the country and in 2016 will again compete in the ECB Leagues with all of its representative teams (10). It will also grow the game above and beyond the current figures. 2016 sees the launch of our new Strategy and Action Plan. Record numbers of junior players from the age of 6, using clubs for training and matches providing a vital community link. WHY YOU?
