Anthem• Definition: (noun) a rousing or uplifting song identified with a

particular group, body, or cause.

• Genres: Rock Anthem - a rock-and-roll song that becomes so popular that it

is considered an "anthem", esp. in sports context. Queen “We Are the Champions” Guns N Roses “Welcome to the Jungle”

National Anthem - a patriotic song or hymn; especially : one adopted officially and played or sung on formal occasions as a mark of loyalty to the nation. USA Canada Etc.

Religious Anthem – a song of loyalty or devotion

Reading Party Wednesday

• Read the first ten pages of Anthem

• Take notes as you read. Do a double-entry journal, where you write a quote from the text + page number on the left of your notes and your thoughts/comments/observations on the right

• You should have at least one entry on your notes per page of text!!
