In today’s world, a woman is central to everything around us. She plays many different roles when it comes to building our society and developing it further. Today, she occupies positions of power and she is integral in her importance within and outside the home.

A woman is the tender mother, the loving daughter, the supportive sister and the faithful wife who gives everything she has to build and protect her family, taking on responsibility for the happiness of everyone around her. As an active member of our community she is the symbol of giving, strength and hard work. Despite the softness of her touch, she works continuously at her own expense, without expecting any return in appreciation.

What does a woman need? And how can

giving? By honoring her with a special day or two? By naming a day of the year as “World Women’s Day”? Or possibly by celebrating “Mother’s Day” like the western societies?

At Al Rajhi Bank, and in our Islamic society in general, we have a different take on how to honor a woman and her positive contribution. We provide her with services, products, efforts, events, and competitions that back up and support her as the honorable lady she is. In a way striving to always stand by her side and lend a helping hand in everything she needs in her daily life!

We all need love, security, stability and support, just as we need comfort, entertainment and intellectual discussions. We use what is around us to move forward and improve. Taking this into consideration, we are pleased that your newsletter, Sawtuki,

Employee of the quarter for her“Passion to serve”

We are all turtles

Interview with Nada M. Al Ghamdi

Why is the value “Passion to serve your customer” important and what is it about?

Passion is one of the Bank’s most important values. It’s a dedication and a promise to respond to all our customers’ needs and provide the kind of service that exceeds their expectations. The prophet Mohammad, may peace be upon him, said (God loves that if one of you does something they do it well).

How do you apply the value “Passion to serve” in your work?

I apply this value by monitoring myself and those who are my responsibility, as well as by excelling in my work and being good to people. Almighty Allah said: (To those who do right a goodly reward).

Smiling is something else I try to consistently

What is the difference between your personal life and your work life?

My personal and professional life complete each other and they’re both one integral whole part that I take good care of. This is how my

happiness in my life overall. And my professional success comes from the successful relationship I have with my family and my feelings towards them;; I work to make them proud.

What role does Al Rajhi Bank play in your professional development and improvement?

It contributed effectively to my growth by giving me the chance to attend several international training sessions. Besides, I’m working in a Bank that’s internationally successful and a local pioneer, which allows me to enjoy a unique experience. In this context, I can’t forget the great contribution of the distinguished leaders who accompanied me on my journey to success.

So I cordially thank Nawal Al Khanji, the Female Branch Network Manager;; Rawda Mughrabi, Manager of the West Province Branch;; and Fatima Mughrabi for their substantial support and motivation to all employees.

What would you advise those who want to follow your lead?

Just as I constantly do myself, I encourage my

Saudi female Bank employees. I invite them to always learn and improve further by reading and following developments and updates in the

professional goals and work to achieve them one step at a time. This is what assures success, builds identity and makes a difference everywhere.

and travel to its destination of choice. It seems like the turtle’s ideal environment is the water, where it’s able to really be free and release its full potential.

My smile widened at the euphoria I saw shining through the turtle’s movements. It was brilliant under water. That’s its ideal place;; its ideal home, its ideal environment.

At that moment, I wondered how many people truly resemble this turtle?

They carry heavy loads over their shoulders and backs in the form of society’s shackles, expectations, worries and stress, all of which impede their movements and slow them down in the journey of life. This heavy cargo they constantly drag around could sometimes stop them from reaching goals and achieving ambitions or at

I started my career in 1991 as a computer and

moment, I focused on 3 major things: excellence, perseverance and self-improvement, applying them in everything I did in order to achieve my professional goals or anything else that came to mind. I focused on these 3 factors because I absolutely believe that the woman is the heart of a society and is responsible for raising its future generations.

Thanks to my education in Sociology, Psychological Consultancy and Business, I was able to understand the Saudi woman’s need and

in society. So, I started orienting my career

developing the female potential, training them in what they were missing to therefore contribute to elevating the status of Saudi women in the whole region. I really enjoyed that career path because it wasn’t limited to personal success.

Since then, I’ve worked in several positions that allowed me to communicate directly with women and know more about their lives, goals and statuses. In fact, as a Manager of a female training center, Member of the National Female Executive Committee in the Chambers’ Council and as a Human Resources Consultant, I was keen to share my professional experience with every woman I met in order to help enrich her own work and personal life. I combined all my human resources training and used them in the actual training of women who showed real enthusiasm for learning or wanted some understanding and help while entering the world of business.

Whenever I witness the success of one of the women I trained, I embrace it as my own. In my simple opinion, the thing that’s more important than success is to have taken the unshakably permanent decision to go for it and achieve it. In one of my training sessions, there was a woman who didn’t believe that training would really

too old and missed the chance to start anything. She had decided to attend the training for the

sake of killing time. I know very well that the substance of social development lies in the young generation that represents the future, but I totally disagreed with her, and I still do, because as long as a human being has the will to make a decision, he/she can give and make a difference. I took this woman’s case as changing her point of view and making her believe in her capabilities was quite a challenge.

After spending a lot of time with her, she

to achieve her dreams. I shared this example because I wanted to convey the essence of my own success, one that is based on the success of the women who come through my training and make up my society.

Though I work hard to maintain

it’s made easier when those around you contribute to it. That’s why, on this occasion, I can’t help but mention Al Rajhi Bank, which was a stable constant in my life, silently supporting all my endeavors. Its contribution wasn’t limited to the easy and fast Shariah compliant banking services and products

professional lives. The Bank motivated me to get more involved in social responsibility with its own permanent determination to get involved in civil campaigns and social responsibility programs that I call the Zakat of education.

I, like Al Rajhi Bank, would like to think that the whole society is also looking out for it’s own future and therefore I invite all women to think outside the box since this will allow them to grab and create a lot of big opportunities for themselves and anyone surrounding them. The woman is, by nature, creative and once she believes in her own potential and capabilities, it shines through to those around her.

Trust in God, Who doesn’t waste the reward of anyone who works hard…

Put your personal stamp on your homeA present that keeps an eye on the past while

aspiring to the future…

away luxuries such as fancy restaurants, lounges, resorts and others, staying in has become desired. This meant that the beautiful and fancy would now come into our homes instead. It spurred new design trends in home furniture and decorating that was, and still is, based on the classics on one hand and the modern on the other.

Classic furniture is still in this year despite dominating modern and innovative designs. In fact, what really matters while decorating your home is a unique blend of traditional golden classic pieces and

modern silver ones along with other colorful and geometrically sharp items. Your personal touch here will add value in the original way you mix and match colors, lighting, textures and accessories.

This time around, when you choose furniture, start by disregarding neutral colors such as beige and choose a shiny red for a sofa for example. Consider the “must haves” to be pieces that are different, eclectic and can be perceived as out of place when viewed

individually, but act as the interesting added twist when combined with the rest of the room. Such lovely personal stamps could include an unexpected combination of leather and wood, Asian and African styles, Chinese tables, paper lamps, a Mexican tea set and so much more. It’s important to have fun with it and pick a piece that speaks to you and of you.

If you love gold and silver, check out the Arabian décor. It offers these colors in designs you can bend to your tastes despite the traditional look of the gold and the modern feel of the silver in general.

Add a touch of them in a corner or use them to highlight certain pieces in your home, like silver molding with a nice rose wall or the wooden edges of your sofa. In addition to gold and silver, try playing with the different degrees of green since it’s making itself strongly felt this year alongside the surviving turquoise from last year and lavender purple.

Now for technology lovers, you can introduce designs that hold different shapes within one piece and stir the technological imagination. For example, surreal tables, open steel wall libraries with leather shelves and geometrical shapes, and even non-structured modern chairs. Whatever expresses your desires

is something to think about and indulge in.

Also, if you are someone who deeply cares about the environment

exactly what you need this year and every year hereafter because eco-friendly furniture is here to stay. The “go green” trend is dominating the scene year after year and to go with it you could pick natural colors, recycled paper lamps, “fake wood” sofas or recycled wooden furniture. This is where imagination, design, conservation and practicality come together to offer you one-of-a-kind pieces that don’t go against what you hold dear and yet are stylishly trendy.

Regardless of what trends say when it comes to colors, designs and furniture, it is superbly important not to limit yourself in any area or

to go against what makes you comfortably you. Sometimes, you might have to customize

and since this is something that is increasingly available these days in all levels of affordability, don’t let it discourage you. Allow your home to

uniqueness. Cleanliness, comfort and family in the end are the only things that make a home a home, but be sure to make it yours.

This generation has been blessed with some of the most extreme possibilities of technology up to date. Admittedly we are still waiting for jet packs

for the entire family and time travel machines to name a few, but the wondrous advancements so far, have made taking an affordable summer vacation on the moon something to look forward to.

Other than the iPad, Galaxy tab, and fridges and washing machines that are connected to and respond to our smart phones, we are presented with the Kinect system from Microsoft.

Kinect for Xbox 360 is here to the pleasure and relief of every parent on earth and for our own enjoyment and convenience as well. It introduces gaming entertainment without controllers. Think ‘Minority Report’ the movie and you can imagine dealing with Kinect. You use your entire body, hands, legs, knees, hips, etc. and even voice to control movies, games and more. Basically you are now the only controller you need.

No need to watch your children sit and play games all day like vegetables with only their minds, hands and wrists involved. You and your children or siblings can now literally get into the

Sports, Kinect Adventures, Kinectimals, Body and Brain Connection, Kinect Joy Ride, Your Shape: Finess Evolved, EA Sports Active and so many others. Basically Kinect is part game controller,

that just blows your mind.

It’s the most advanced thing out there that combines technology with health and imagination. So indulge in what can only be described as an enchanting piece of machinery

to dream of even greater inventions for a future that is starting to resemble that beloved cartoon series ‘The Jetsons’.

two bodies of salty seawater do not mix with each other. There is an unseen barrier between them that is due to the different water density of each of the two seawater bodies, preventing one from mixing with the other. Salty seawater and fresh water rivers do not ever mix either and this is also because of the different water density of each.

Your home furniture unlocks the secrets to your personality
