Measuring Devices
Measuring Devices
• Measuring devices should be kept clean so measurements will be accurate
• Pesticide labels will contain label rates for the pesticide. Measuring devices should measure in the same units as the label specifies
• Measuring devices should never be food handling containers of any kind, including mason jars
Disposal
Disposal• Empty pesticide containers should be disposed of
in a landfill or offered for recycling. It is illegal in Georgia to burn pesticide containers
• Pesticide containers are considered non hazardous waste if triple rinsed (or equivalent) and punctured or rendered unusable.
• Pesticide products that are no longer needed or unknown and need to be disposed of must be disposed of as hazardous waste. The Department of Agriculture offers the Georgia Clean Day as an opportunity for residents to dispose of these products for free.

AG vs. O&T: Labels and Labeling
• Label-That which is affixed to the container.
• Labeling-Any additional information needed for use of the product.
• The Label Is The Law.
Agricultural vs. O&T
• One of the largest violations found in contractor and commercial inspections is using Agricultural Chemicals on Ornamental and Turf Sites.
• This is a serious label violation and can result in a fine of $1,000 per offence
• with each application counting as a offence, fines can be substantial– (50 applications could equal $50,000 fine)

Ag Pesticides verses O&T Pesticides
• Ag pesticides are tested on crops, not ornamentals and turf
• May have same active ingredients, but inactive ingredients may cause harm to ornamentals or turf
• Labels for ornamental and turf products have specific application rates for intended sites, Ag formulations do not have specific application rates for ornamental and turf sites. This may result in over application of active ingredients and unsafe residues on ornamentals and turf.
