Tropical Cyclone Isaias – Preparations/Response

Situation: Tropical Cyclone Isaias threatens portions of the Eastern US

from Florida to New England.

Lifeline Impacts:

Safety and Security

• PR: Preliminary damage assessments are ongoing

Food, Water, & Shelter

• PR: 47 shelters open with 53 occupants (ESF-6 shelter report as of 6:00 a.m. ET)

• PR: 197k (15%) of customers without water, due to power outage

• All FEMA Distribution Centers stocked; DC Atlanta has 1 million meals,

2.7 million liters of water with commodities and generators; contracted to

store 3 million meals with the vendor in TN

• FEMA leased additional storage space in AL for staging; Logistics

moving 53 trailers of water to AL next week

Health and Medical

• PR: 15 hospitals running on generator power

Energy

• PR: 115k (peak 440k) customers without power territory-wide; ongoing

restoration

• DLA alerted for bulk fuels, up to 239 additional generators, deployable

depot teams to run staging bases

Transportation

• Tren Urbano service suspended until further notice

State/Local Response:

• PR EOC Full Activation (Isaias and COVID-19); PR Governor declared a state of

emergency; National Guard activated

• USVI Full Activation (Isaias and COVID-19)
