Resident SpotlightRoselyn Hancock

Roselyn is a fitness pioneer that has regainedstrength in over 80% of her body after a

stroke left her paralyzed back in June 2019.One of Roselyn's sons found her on the floorand was able to call for help and get her the

care she needed right away! With her stroke,Roselyn said, "I went to The Villages and

thought I would go home, but after we saw theWellness Center and visited with Sara I

decided that home was not a good idea." Theformer Navy nurse works out here on

Tuesdays & Thursdays with Sara then headsover three times a week to The Villages next

door. Roselyn's advice to otherLandon residents, "Take advantage of the

programs here, even if it's walking the halls.Once you start, try to see it till the end

and always wear your life aid!"

Above are Roselyn and her beloved latehusband, Gill. Both served in the U.S. Navy forseveral years, Roselyn was a nurse and Gillserved as a Corpsman in the Vietnam War."We only dated for 6 weeks and then decidedto get married." Roselyn was born inMinnesota, but with a giggle, she said, "Onceyou marry a Texan you never leave Texas."Roselyn continued being a nurse in Dallas for35 years till she retired, Gill loved helpingothers as a Fireman and Paramedic at theFirestation right across the street from TheLandon! Roselyn already felt a bond to LakeHighlands and was very familiar with thecommunity and saw it being built. "I feelsecure and happy here. Anka and Paula wereso helpful to me and love how friendlyeveryone is. I'm always impressed with thestaff and how they know your name and arewilling to help you.
