Life at the Landon April 2020 Resident Spotlight Relyn Hancock Roselyn is a fitness pioneer that has regained strength in over 80% of her body after a stroke left her paralyzed back in June 2019. One of Roselyn's sons found her on the floor and was able to call for help and get her the care she needed right away! With her stroke, Roselyn said, "I went to The Villages and thought I would go home, but after we saw the Wellness Center and visited with Sara I decided that home was not a good idea." The former Navy nurse works out here on Tuesdays & Thursdays with Sara then heads over three times a week to The Villages next door. Roselyn's advice to other Landon residents, "Take advantage of the programs here, even if it's walking the halls. Once you start, try to see it till the end and always wear your life aid!" Above are Roselyn and her beloved late husband, Gill. Both served in the U.S. Navy for several years, Roselyn was a nurse and Gill served as a Corpsman in the Vietnam War. "We only dated for 6 weeks and then decided to get married." Roselyn was born in Minnesota, but with a giggle, she said, "Once you marry a Texan you never leave Texas." Roselyn continued being a nurse in Dallas for 35 years till she retired, Gill loved helping others as a Fireman and Paramedic at the Firestation right across the street from The Landon! Roselyn already felt a bond to Lake Highlands and was very familiar with the community and saw it being built. "I feel secure and happy here. Anka and Paula were so helpful to me and love how friendly everyone is. I'm always impressed with the staff and how they know your name and are willing to help you. Those things stand out to me and I notice." Thank you, Roselyn, for allowing me to write about your life!
