PRESENTED BY DISPLAYS & ACTIVITIES Lest We Forget – Rosemary Wreath of Remembrance AWESOME Arts and Western Australian artist Ma McVeigh invite you to discover the history and significance of rosemary as a sign of remembrance and tie a sprig to the community wreath for a lost loved one. ANZAC Sanctuary Peace Crane Making Following a tradition begun by one lile girl who folded 1000 origami cranes in the belief that her wish for world peace would be granted, people all over the world now fold paper cranes in memory of all children’s lives lost in war. Make a wish and hang a peace crane of your own. Digital Remembrance Wall Have your photo taken against a WWI era backdrop with replica early 1900s props. Images taken will appear in a montage on the Perth Cultural Centre Screen throughout the weekend. RSL Remembrance Arch Write a message for a WWI serviceperson, aach it to a poppy card and tie it to the arch. Alongside the arch, learn how to knit a woollen poppy to add to a large knied wreath and take a copy of the kniing paern home. Living History See an authentic WWI army encampment, bell tent and nurses station recreated, complete with daily troop drills, and talk with participants about these historic re-enactments. Veteran Car Club Military Vehicles on display include Willy’s jeeps and medical trucks, a Stuart tank, Austin Ambulance, Ferret, Champ and army Landrovers. SATURDAY 25 APRIL – MONDAY 27 APRIL From 6am Saturday witness Perth’s Dawn Service, Troop March and the Gallipoli Service live on the Perth Cultural Centre Screen. From midday Saturday and from 10am – 4pm Sunday and Monday, visit the RSL and Fremantle Press stalls; get a feed from the Mess Hall, view a historic photo exhibition and commemorative entertainment including pipe and drum bands and live music on the PICA amphitheatre and Wetland stages. All day activities include: PERFORMERS The Coontail Trio Inspired by the Andrews and Boswell sisters, this trio of vintage songbirds perform songs from the 1930s and 1940s wartime era. Krispe Kay Local rapper Krispe Kay invites young Australians to connect with and pay respect to the ANZACs through the art of verse. See him perform his track Brave Digger Rap and play Rapper Tag with other local artists, taking turns to each perform 16 bars of a new rap. Harry Deluxe Harry’s seven piece LA style swing band perform songs from blues, jazz, swing and rockabilly greats including Big Maybelle, Ea James and Ella Fitzgerald. The Darling Buds of May This favourite Perth swing sextet presents the nostalgic sounds of yesteryear, specialising in 1920s jazz and 40s and 50s swing. ANZAC Sanctuary Peace Crane Making

Have your photo taken against a WWI era backdrop with replica early 1900s props. Images taken will appear in a montage on the

Perth Cultural Centre Screen throughout the weekend.

RSL Remembrance Arch

Write a message for a WWI serviceperson, attach it to a

poppy card and tie it to the arch. Alongside the arch, learn how to knit a woollen poppy to add to a large knitted wreath and take a

copy of the knitting pattern home.

Living History

See an authentic WWI army encampment, bell tent and nurses station recreated, complete with daily troop drills, and talk with

participants about these historic re-enactments.

Veteran Car Club

Military Vehicles on display include Willy’s jeeps and medical

trucks, a Stuart tank, Austin Ambulance, Ferret, Champ and

army Landrovers.

PERFORMERS

The Cottontail Trio

Inspired by the Andrews and Boswell sisters, this trio of vintage songbirds perform songs from the

1930s and 1940s wartime era.

Krispe Kay

Local rapper Krispe Kay invites young Australians to connect with

and pay respect to the ANZACs through the art of verse. See him

perform his track Brave Digger Rap and play Rapper Tag with other local artists, taking turns to each

perform 16 bars of a new rap.

Harry Deluxe

Harry’s seven piece LA style swing band perform songs from blues, jazz, swing and rockabilly greats

including Big Maybelle, Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald.

The Darling Buds of May

This favourite Perth swing sextet presents the nostalgic sounds of yesteryear, specialising in 1920s

jazz and 40s and 50s swing.

discover the stories of Simpson and his Donkey, and Midnight: The Story

of a Light Horse, then write and draw their own story.

Peace Pond

Sunday 26 & Monday 27 April only

Write a note to a WWI soldier on a replica era postcard and place your

message in a bottle to sail on the Library pond. Actual WWI postcard

messages will also be on display.

Monday 27 April, 10am – 4pm

Cut a rug in the sun as Perth Swing Dance Society teaches a free dance class and the Hullabaloo Hoppers
