Golfing Achievements

Notes from the Pro: Ray Barr

EAGLES: 1/2 Wayne Green holed out his 3rd shot into the par 5 hole #8 for his “3”. The 9-iron approach from 136 yards was a pleasant surprise after

struggling with the first two shots on the hole. Congratulations for a great recovery!

1/17 James White was on a roll with some good play and one great shot on hole #14. His 3rd shot into the green using a gap wedge found the

cup for a “3”. Nice Shot!

1/20 Sara Sensenbach recorded an Eagle “2” during the LGA Play Day. Her great score came on the most difficult hole for the Ladies,

hole #4. Her shot of 125 yards using a 9-wood was right on target. Great shot!

PERSONAL BEST ROUNDS: 1/3 Manny Oliver recorded his personal best round as a JGCC Member. His score of 82 was very consistent with nine-hole scores of 41.

Very good round and congratulations!

The Annual Club Championship Series will continue again this year for the 2015 Golf Season. Early Register from February 1st through February 16th for $40 for the Series. Register February 18th through February 28th for $50 for the Series. The

following events are included in the CCS: Men’s & Ladies Club Champs, Mr. & Mrs. Club Champs, Presidents Cup Singles

and 2-Man, and Senior Club Champs. Entry fee for each individual event will be $55. Don’t miss this great value to participate in

multiple events for ONE entry fee of $40. 2015 Kicks off with the Presidents Cup Men’s Singles Match Play on February 28th.

UNF Women’s Collegiate Golf Tournament

There will be many opportunities to get involved with this event hosting 15 universities for a 54-hole event. Volunteers are needed in the following areas: Private

Housing, Live Scoring, Course Spotters, and Registration. Sylvia Roberts is leading the

Housing Committee, if you have any interest in hosting. Contact the Professional Golf Staff

for more details and to register as a volunteer to make this a great event for Women’s Collegiate Golf! The following is the itinerary:

March 9th: 8:30am shotgun for member play 1pm Collegiate-Am (50 Members/50 Collegians)

March 10th: 36-holes of college play

March 11th: 18-holes of college play – Course opens for regular play at 1pm

JGCC is proud to announce that we are hosting the 2nd Annual UNF Lady Ospreys “Women’s Collegiate Invitational.” The event is March 8th-10th with a planned Collegiate-Am event on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Ospreys are in their

3rd Season of Golf with a new program and are excited to host their event at the home of their Golf Coach, Joanne Berglund

and the UNF Athletic Director, Lee Moon.

This is a 4-Man A,B,C,D (computer paired teams) format. The scoring is 2-Best

Balls Net on the Par 5’s, 4’s, & 3-Best Balls Net on Par 3’s! There will be team

skins, proximity prizes, $10K cash Hole-In-One Prize on hole #12 and much more!

The shotgun start is at 12:30pm!! The Ultimate Shootout will commence

immediately after the round on hole #18 with the 2014 Shootout Winners trying to win the $750 first prize. The evening format for the 2015 Kickoff is back on the

lawn near the Fire Pit. The MGA will host a bonfire with an open grill to cook a

steak dinner! Seating will be set up in and around the Garden Terrace and fire pit.

Along with golf the MGA will host its annual election of new Board members for

the 2015-16 Season. The sign-up sheet is posted in the golf shop! Let’s have a

great turnout to start off the 2015 MGA calendar of golf events!

Appointments are not necessary. The equipment will be set up from 12-4pm. Give the newest Driver that Rory and Tiger are using a test run! Don’t miss the demo pricing specials on orders taken this day only!

Feb 8 & 22 - Spring Couples Golf League! Don’t forget to refer to your schedule and make arrangements for your matches

on these days. Please do your very best to arrange your tee time with your scheduled playing partners. If your scheduled

partner is unavailable, please refer to the list of alternates.

First Annual JGCC vs San Jose CC Challenge Cup Matches Feb. 15 - SAN-JAX CHALLENGE CUP! Deadline for Pre-Qualifying. Qualifiers take the best

2 of 3 rounds to qualify for the next stage.

Feb 21-22 - Finals SAN-JAX CHALLENGE CUP Qualifying! The top 12 players advancing from pre-qualifying

in 3 divisions will play 36 holes of qualifying to determine the top 6 spots plus alternates in each division that will make up the team for 2015. The Ryder Cup Style Matches between JGCC & San Jose CC will take place March

27th-29th. JGCC is hosting the Welcome Dinner on Friday, March 27th, and the Sunday Singles Matches. San Jose

will host the Four-Ball and Modified Alternate Shot matches on Saturday, March 28th.

Feb 28 - Annual Ladies Match Play kicks off this day. Good luck to all of the participants in your matches!

Feb 28 - Round 1 Qualifier for the Men’s Presidents Cup Singles Match Play. This is the first of two qualifiers to establish the match play bracket to determine the Gross & Net Match Play Champions.

2015 Tennis Member-Guest Event: Margaritaville!

All teams will play once on Friday and two matches on Saturday. This event includes: food on Friday evening,

Saturday breakfast, Saturday lunch, and the Tennis Banquet at the Clubhouse on Saturday night.
