SECTION Basic Test
Item : Power of SMPS and MAIN B/D
Symptom : System Working Failure
Check each terminal of CN901 Power supply connector on Circuit Diagram page 1
3.3V in 7Pin is main power. In case of 3.3V disorder, system doesn’t work at all

Symptoms & Trouble shooting
Check each terminal of CN901 using a Voltmeter. In case of insufficiency of proper voltage
for each terminal, replace SMPS

A/V, RS-232, Front & Tuning do not work in case
of U901 Regulator is dead

Main STi5518 doesn’t work in case of D301 Diode is dead
Symptoms & Trouble shooting:
Check each terminal of Regulator & Diode In/Out using a Voltmeter. In case of insufficiency
of proper voltage for each terminal, replace a conforming component
SECTION Basic Test
Item : VCXO 27MHz STI 5518 CLOCK
Symptom : System Working Failure
VCXO CLOCK 27MHz is System CLOCK of STi5518
When 3.3V power is applied, VCXO 27MHz makes an output of 27MHz CLOCK

- Gauge the Pin #8 of VCXO => 27MHz
- Gauge the Pin #120 of U301
- Gauge 3.3V of the Pin #8 of U302
Symtoms & Trouble shooting
- In case of failure of an output of not-reset wave in U303 Pin #1, Front displays
“8888.”
- VCXO can be damaged by a severe physical shock or static electricity
- Check the neighboring circuit of U302 & Soldering status, then in case of not being found
any disorder of them, replace U302 (Neighboring components : B301,R316,BD301)
SECTION Basic Test
Item : STI 5518 RESET
Symptom : System Not Working
When the power is applied, NOT-RESET is output to U303 #1
1. Not Reset wave 2.Power on wave
Check Point:
- Reset Chip : Circuit Diagram page 4 / Gauge U303 #1 using Oscilloscope
- STi5518 Reset : Circuit Diagram page 4 / Gauge U301 #124
- Flash Reset : Circuit Diagram page 5 / Gauge U381 #12
- Tuner Reset : Circuit Diagram page 2 / Gauge TU101 #26
Symptoms & Trouble Shooting
- In case of no output of Not-Reset wave in U303 Pin #1, Front displays “8888”
- Check the neighboring circuit of U303 & Soldering status, then in case of not being found
any disorder of them, replace U303
(Neighboring components : R320, CB324)
Item : FLASH TEST
Symptom : System working failure
All the information is stored in Flash memory that is necessary for the operation of receiver
When you turn on the power, FLASH CE/OE show the wave as below;
After completing Booting, it remains in high status without movement.

SECTION System Test
Item : I2C BUS TEST
Symptom: System working failure & Rebooting.
I2C BUS is a signal to control each device. In case of disorder in a line or a Ground short, it
makes the system down or rebooted

Symptoms & Trouble shooting
1. Check the above Check Point components or soldering status of Serial resistor 100 Ohm
(Serial resistor : R393,R394,R805,R806,R101,R102,R202,R203,R721,R722)
2. In case of low voltage in a Line, check the 3.3V Pull up
(R322,R323,R301,R302 2.7K Ohm)
3. In case everything is in an order but LINE voltage is under 2V, it means that Main Chip(U301
STI5518) is dead or I2C Device trouble.
SECTION MPEG and A/V
Test
Item : Video Output
Symptom : Video signal generating failure.
In order to test it, make the Color Bar displayed by pressing numeric buttons “42125” on the
remote controller in turn in Standby status
The video signal is output from Main Chip STi5518(U301) to TV SCART, VCR SCART and
RCA through AK4702(U721)
Symptoms & Trouble Shooting :
1. Check the neighboring circuit of U721 or soldering status
2. When AK4702 input is OK but there’s not output of it, check U721 power and its neighboring
circuit. And check Resister, Capacitor value in case output is OK but wave is abnormal
3. The above wave of AK4702 Output is same as the one of VCR CVBS and TV CVBS

Symptom: Video signal generating failure.

The last-end wave of CVBS Output is same as below
(The below picture shows 75 Ohm lode status to TV when you gauge TV SCART, VCR
SCART and RCA wave)
Symptoms & Trouble Shooting :
1. AK4702 Output is normal but in case the last-end wave is distorted or the range of it is
below 1V ±0.1, check output platform Resistor, Capacitor value
2. VCR SCART & TV SCART CVBS output platform wave is same as the above

Item: AK4702 R, G, B Video input.
Symptom: R, G, B Video signal generating failure

AK4702(U721)

When STi5518 R,G,B Output is normal but AK4702 Input wave is in disorder, check C, R value
in RGB Filter

AK4702(U721)
The last-end wave
Symptoms & Trouble Shooting :
1. When AK4702 R, G, B Output is normal but the last-end output wave is in disorder, check
R753,R755,R756 value
2. When AK4702 input is normal but output is abnormal : U721 material defect

Symptom : Audio signal generating failure
Pin #41, PCM_DATA, Pin #40, DAC_SCLK, Pin #42, DAC_LRCLK, Pin #39 and PCM_CLK of
U1 are normal
In order to test it, make the Color Bar displayed by pressing numeric buttons “42125” on the
remote controller in turn in Standby status. When Color Bar displays on TV, Audio (1Khz)
wave is output

- Audio Right Out : Circuit Diagram Page6/U721, Pin31 (or R752)
Symptoms & Trouble Shooting
1. Check the soldering status of U721,RA312,R751,R752 Soldering
2. In case the frequency as the above is not output, U721 material is defective
3. Check of Output terminal Resistors.

Symptom: Check Point for each Pin Servicing of Tuner
The function of each Pin of Tuner (Circuit Diagram page 7)
1) Use Pin #1. LNB-OUTPUT terminal as LNB Loop Through
- Voltage : 13/18V ±1V (MAX 25V)
- Current : MAX 600mA
- Frequency Range : 950MHz ~ 2150MHz
2) Use Pin #2. LNB-INPUT terminal as Satellite Antenna Input
- Voltage : 13/18V ±1V (MAX 25V)
- Current : MAX 600mA
- Frequency Range : 950MHz ~ 2150MHz
3) Pin #3. RF Booster AMP Voltage
- Voltage : : +3.3V (+3.135V ~ +3.465V Max 30mA)
4) Pin #4. Front-end section Voltage
- Voltage : +3.3V (+3.135V ~ +3.465V )
5) Pin #11. LINK IC Voltage
- Voltage : +3.3V (+3.135V ~ +3.465V )

SECTION Tuner Test
Item: Tuner working voltage and tuning voltage.
Symptom: Locking Failure
+3.3V and +2.5V are applied for Tuner power. Only if all of the power voltage are input
properly, Tuner works normally.

Symptoms & Trouble Shooting :
1. Check soldering status of the neighboring circuit such as resistors and condensers
(B101,B102,B103 DI01, etc.)
Check +3.3V of U901 7805 input voltage. In case of disorder of the Input Voltage, check
SMPS.
2. Check +2.5V of D101 1N4004 Input Voltage. In case of disorder of the Input Voltage,
check SMPS.

SECTION Tuner Test
Item: 13V/18V LNB Working Voltage Failure.
Symptom: Locking Failure
13V/18V voltage is for the operation of a LNB of a satellite antenna. In case the voltage is not
applied properly to a LNB, a screen is broken and it fails to lock channels

Item: 22KHz TONE Frequency.
Symptom: Locking Failure
22Khz Tone is a signal to control DiSEqC
In case of a disorder of 22Khz Tone, it fails to lock and do DiSEqC Selection

Symptoms & Trouble Shooting :
1. Check soldering status of the neighboring circuit (Q156, Q157 etc.) such as resistors and
condensers
2. In case of no output of 22Khz clock in 22Khz Input terminal, check Tuner(TU101)
3. If the voltage in Q157 Base terminal is 0.6~0.7V, (R156,R157,R158,R155,C153 LNB control
value.)

2. In case Input wave is not formed, check AK4702(U721) works properly.

1. Check the circuit near Q772, Q773 and soldering status
2. When 12V is not input to Q772, check SMPS.

Even if there’s no AC-3 signal, Audio is always output to PCM DATA
