REMINDER: INSURANCE IS NEEDED FOR ANY EVENT OUTSIDE YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED

MEETING.

Check your regular Insurance Certificates expiration date and contact the Area Secretary if your group’s certificate has

expired. Also, if you are not listed or correctly listed in our Meeting List please let Lucina know.

Please make sure to regularly update your contact information with the facility you rent space from so they are able

to reach your group if need be. Make sure the facility has more than one (1) group member’s contact info. Please

make sure we are being responsible and accountable at all meeting places.

INFORMATION ON SASNA COMMITMENTS:

2019 SASNA POSITIONS: Nominations will be taken from the GROUPS ONLY during October and the

regular nominations session in November. At the end of group nominations in November, nominations will be

taken from the floor ONLY FOR THOSE POSITIONS THAT DO NOT HAVE ANY NOMINEES AT

THAT TIME. ALL nominees MUST be present to accept their nomination AND for voting in December

AREA CHAIR Qualifications: 2 years NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy) and 1 year prior area

service

Responsibilities: Responsible for conducting the ASC meeting, preparing the agenda, and various administration

duties. At the ASC meeting votes only in the case of a tie. Up to $25 revolving fund. A co-signer on the ASC bank

account. Required to stay on site until all NA members have left the premises after the ASC meeting. Required to

attend all ASC and Steering Committee meetings. As a member of the Steering Committee, will participate in 24

hour proof reading of the secretary’s report. Must be present to be nominated and elected, and must present

written and oral statement of qualifications.

AREA VICE CHAIR

Qualifications: 2 years NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy) and 6 months prior area

service

Responsibilities: Coordinates all area subcommittees, assists the chairperson in conducting the ASC meeting, and

conducts the ASC meeting in the Chairperson’s absence. Up to $25 revolving fund. A co-signer on the ASC bank

account. Required to stay on site until all NA members have left the premises after the ASC meeting. Required to

attend all ASC and Steering Committee meetings. As a member of the Steering Committee, will participate in 24

hour proof reading of the secretary’s report. Must be present to be nominated and elected, and must present

written and oral statement of qualifications.

SECRETARY Qualifications: 2 years NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy) and 6 months prior area

service.

Responsibilities: Takes clear concise minutes of the ASC meeting, and prepares the minutes for distribution at the

next meeting. Prepares and mails the Secretary’s Report within 10 days from the ASC meeting. Up to $150

monthly revolving fund for copies and other supplies that may be required by the ASC. Must be proficient enough

in word processing software to complete the requirements and content of the secretary’s report. Required to attend

all ASC and Steering Committee meetings. Must be present to be nominated and elected, and must present written

and oral statement of qualifications.

ALTERNATE RCM Qualifications: 2 years NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy),6months prior area

service, and must reside within Suffolk County.

Responsibilities: Assists the RCM in gathering information from the region, and ensures all points of view are

properly presented to the ASC. The Alternate RCM may vote at the ENYRSC meeting and give reports to the

ASC in the RCM’s absence. In the absence of the RCM, may vote their conscience on time-frame and

housekeeping matters at the RSC, but must bring any motions affecting our Area back to the ASC. Revolving

fund of $75 per month to the RCM and Alternate to cover the cost of paper copies of Regional reports and flyers,

and $50 bi-monthly for travel and other expenses relating to attendance at the Regional Weekend. Term runs for

one year from June to July. Responsible to attend ENYRSC bi-monthly meetings, to regularly communicate with

the ASC Vice-Chair and to provide the ASC with monthly reports. Required to attend all ASC and Steering

Committee meetings. As a member of the Steering Committee, will participate in 24 hour proof reading of the

secretary’s report. Must be present to be nominated and elected, and must present written and oral statement of

qualifications.

SUPPORTING SECRETARY Qualifications: 1 year NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy) and 6 months prior area

service

Responsibilities: Assist the Secretary in all administrative duties. Prepare all forms required at the ASC

meeting and set up the Secretary’s table at the ASC meeting. Up to $25 revolving fund. Must be proficient enough

in word processing software to complete the requirements and content of the secretary’s report. Required to attend

all ASC and Steering Committee meetings. As a member of the Steering Committee, will participate in 24 hour

proof reading of the secretary’s report. Must be present to be nominated and elected, and must present written and

oral statement of qualifications.

TREASURER Qualifications: 2 years NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy), 6 months prior area

service, and proof of financial security derived from employment or income equivalent (such as retirement

benefits, investments or other assets)

Responsibilities: Receive the funds from literature purchases and group donations, administers and keeps

accurate records of the Area’s treasury and bank accounts, reports on the financial condition of the ASC at every

meeting, monitors all subcommittee revolving funds, reimburses officers and subcommittee chairs for their

expenses, pays the rent for the ASC meeting place, and passes the basket at the ASC meeting. Will use a money

management program to conduct these duties. Will maintain a Suffolk Area post office box, in order to

have an address to receive bank statements, regional reports and any other correspondence necessary to conduct

the business of the Area. Up to $25 revolving fund. A co-signer on the ASC bank account. Required to attend

ASSISTANT TREASURER Qualifications: 1 year NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy) and 6 months prior area

Responsibilities: Assists the Treasurer with his/her duties at the ASC meeting. Must be present to be nominated

and elected, and must present written and oral statement of qualifications.

LITERATURE ORDER SCREENER Qualifications: 6 months NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy) & 6 months prior area

service

Responsibilities: Assists the Treasurer with his/her duties at the ASC meeting. Must be present to be nominated

and elected, and must present written and oral statement of qualifications.

TREASURER RECEIPT ISSUER Responsible for completing a duplicate receipt for funds received from each group’s Literature Form. One receipt

is issued to the GSR and the other is attached to the literature form. Does not handle money.

POLICY CHAIR Qualifications: 2 years NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy) and 1 year prior area

service.

Responsibilities: Responsible to hold monthly meetings, to conduct the day to day operations of their

Subcommittee, to attend their respective regional meetings, regularly communicate with the ASC Vice-Chair and

to provide the ASC with monthly reports. Will provide an updated version of the policy packet, including all

policy motions voted on the prior year, each November, to be ratified by the groups of Suffolk Area at the

December ASC meeting. Up to $80 every two months for the cost of GSR packets and copies of the policy.

Required to attend all ASC and Steering Committee meetings. As a member of the Steering Committee, will

participate in 24 hour proof reading of the secretary’s report. Must be present to be nominated and elected, and

must present written and oral statement of qualifications.

HELPLINE CHAIR Qualifications: 1 year NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy) and 6 months prior area

service

Responsibilities: Responsible to hold monthly meetings, to conduct the day to day operations of their

Subcommittee, to attend their respective regional meetings, regularly communicate with the ASC Vice-Chair

and to provide the ASC with monthly reports. Up to $50 every other month for flyers and orientation packets, as

well as $200 plus tax for the answering service plus the telephone bill. Required to attend all ASC and Steering

Committee meetings. As a member of the Steering Committee, will participate in 24 hour proof reading of the

secretary’s report. Must be present to be nominated and elected, and must present written and oral statement of

qualifications.

PUBLIC INFORMATION Qualifications: 2 years NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy), 6 months prior area

service, and 6 months prior PI service

Responsibilities: Responsible to hold monthly meetings, to conduct the day to day operations of their

Subcommittee, to attend their respective regional meetings, regularly communicate with the ASC Vice-Chair and

to provide the ASC with monthly reports. Up to $175 revolving fund for clerical and/or travel expenses and

literature purchases for PI presentations. Required to attend all ASC and Steering Committee meetings. As a
