SAP Note 880687 - Logging and Tracing of VMC based AP7.00 engines

How to view all log entries:

o Run transaction sm53.

o In the naviagtion tree (left side) expand the "Log Display" node

(click on the arrow icon).

o In the "Log selection" panel (left side) check the second check box

on root level, labeled as "/". All check boxes deeper down in the

tree are also checked.

o If you are only interested in application log messages of the AP

Configuration Engine, AP Pricing Engine or AP Tax Engine uncheck

the the second check box on root level. All check boxes deeper down

in the tree are also unchecked. Then check the box labled

"Applications". All check boxes below the "Applications" check box

are checked too, but only them.

o Be sure that the "Severity" field in the "Filter Settings" panel is

set to "All". All other fields in the "Filter Settings" panel

should be empty.

o Press the "Update Log Messages" button to display all matching log

messages (if any).

How to narrow down log entries:

To focus on log entries of interest you have several filter options

in the "Filter Settings" panel. Please note, that only messages

generated on the current application server are displayed.

o Increase severity.

A log message has a certain severity, for example INFO or ERROR.

There are several severities - sorted from ALL (lowest severity)

over DEBUG, PATH, INFO, WARNING, ERROR to FATAL (highest severity).

Only messages of the selected or a higher severity are displayed.

So the reduce the displayed message to errors ("normal" and fatal

ones) set severity to ERROR.

o Select user.

By selecting a certain user only messages generated this user aredisplayed.

o Select client.

By selecting a certain client only messages related to this client

are displayed.

o Select session.

By selecting a certain session only messages related to this

session are displayed. A session's identifier (Id) is displayed in

column "Session Id" of the log message panel.

How to change default severity level (used to filter log messages):

o In the navigation tree (left side) expand the "Log Configuration"

node (click on the arrow icon)

o Field "Location or Category": Enter "/Applications". This affectes

the applications (AP Configuration Engine, AP Pricing Engine or AP

Tax Engine) only, but not the system. To affect all of them enter

"/".

o Field "Severity": Select "ERROR"

o Press the Copy button

o To affect traces too:

Field "Location or Category": Enter "com.sap".

Press the Copy button again.

How to enable trace of currency or unit conversion:



o Field "Location or Category": Enter

"com.sap.spe.conversion.impl.ConversionEngine"

o Field "Severity": Select "DEBUG"


How to disable trace of currency or unit conversion:



o Field "Location or Category": Enter

"com.sap.spe.conversion.impl.ConversionEngine"

o Field "Severity": Select "ERROR"
