When models were re-assigned to different model servers, their calculated results on their original serverswere lost. This is because when the PCMMODEL.EXE process was started, it deleted all model resultsthat did not belong to the server on which it was running. To resolve the issue, the clean-up procedure has been changed so that it does not delete results specificto a model server. In addition, the clean up code is now called immediately after a model is deleted, sothere is no need to wait for the PCMMAIN server to start.

Depending on the order in which items are imported into a Bill of Materials (BOM) model, componentsthat already exist at a child level in the "BOM Makeup" heirarchy are duplicated at the root level.

A new Console command, Optimize BOM (optimizebom), is now available. Running this commandremoves duplicate components from the root level of the "BOM Makeup" hierarchy.

The new command takes no parameters and it is recommended that you run this command after eachimport into a BOM model.

To access this command in the Console Wizard, access the "Command Properties" dialog box and selectOptimize BOM in the Command Type list.

The following is an example of a batch file that contains the optimizebom command:

username=administrator password=administrator openmodel=BOM Model import=bomstructure.xml, YES optimizebom= closemodel=

The above file opens a model, imports an XML file into the model, runs the optimizebom command toremove any duplicate components in the "BOM Makeup", and then closes the model.

In "View Builder", the new "Grid Styles" feature allows you to create custom grid styles that can be reusedacross multiple grids and applied across different books.

A grid style can specify the following: - Background colors for cells that hold various types of values. - Background colors for selected cells. - Colors and fonts for cell text. - The colors for decorative elements such as borders and shadows. - The size and color of blank lines in a grid.

To use a custom grid style in a Book, you assign the style to a Grid object or a Report object via theirassociated Data Manager object.

Users who may experience difficulty viewing grids with many colors have the option to set "UserPreferences" so that the custom grid styles are not displayed, but only the default grid style, which isdefined on the system and based on the current Windows theme for the user.

For more information on creating and applying custom grid styles, consult the F1 Help or the document,SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide.

Access to the Grid Styles functionality is controlled by a new security descriptor, "Manage Grid Styles".For more information on security for grid styles, see the document, SAP BusinessObjects Profitability andCost Management Security Guide.

Note: Documents can be downloaded from the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com. The updatedapplication help will be installed when you install Support Package06.

The new "Advanced Rules Manager" tool allows you to see at a glance which dimension items have rulesin a model. You can use this screen to examine and debug rules because it allows you to do to thefollowing: - View all the rules for a model in one screen - View and edit the code for rules. - Perform syntax checks on rules. - View a list of all grid values that may be related to a rule. - Time and test a rule. - Time and test the retrieval of grid values that may be related to a rule. - Configure the context in which rules are tested and timed.

For more information on the new rules manager, consult the F1 Help or see the document, SAPBusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide.

Access to the Advanced Rules Manager is controlled by the security descriptor, "Rules Security". Formore information on security for grid styles, see the document, SAP BusinessObjects Profitability andCost Management Security Guide.

With Support Package 08, you can now export model parent/child structure, export IDs, and results to anSAP HANA database for Profitability and Bill of Materials model types. The new "Export to HANA" dialogbox in Model Builder allows you to: - Select model tables and results for export to an SAP HANA database. - Choose or create Export IDs - Save export settings as an Export Specification (EPS) file - Remove model results from an SAP HANA database.

For more information on the "Export to HANA" feature, see the new "Export to HANA" section in the "SAPBusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide".

To enable the Export to HANA feature on the SAP HANA database, a sample SQL script called"PCM10HANA.sql" is provided in a directory called “HANA” within the “PCM_100_SQL” folder provided inthe support package ZIP file. This sample script must be executed on the HANA instance you wish toexport model data to. The script creates a schema/catalog called “EPM_PCM” and creates suitablecolumn tables within this schema to hold exported results from SAP BusinessObjects Profitability andCost Management, as well as views that make viewing the results more meaningful. These tables andviews are documented in section "Export to HANA: Tables and Views" of the "SAP BusinessObjectsProfitability and Cost Management Modeling User Guide". If you wish to create a differently namedschema, replace all “EPM_PCM” strings in the sample SQL with your required schema/catalog.

Note: Additional testing with Net Margin Analysis (NMA) and larger volumes of data in SAPBusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management after the assembly of Support Package 08 hasrevealed a limitation that the maximum number of records that can be written via the Export to HANAprocess is 100,000 records. Any attempt to write more than this number of records will fail and will causea lockup in the PCMModel.exe process. A patch will be released to correct this issue

ADAPT01721195

SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 7.5 Support Package 10 and later versionsintroduced a check during the export of Revenue, Activity Driver, Resource Driver, and Employee values,in which any relevant rules are analyzed to determine whether a "fast" export is possible.

If a model contains Consolidation rules that are not the default rules, the export time can take longer thanin earlier versions of the software.

This patch includes a new Model Calculation Option that allows you to bypass this check by reverting tothe pre-PCM 7.5 SP10 method of checking whether a "fast" export is possible.

Warning: Only use this option if you are advised to do so after consultation with SAP.

To use this option:

- Select Model > Model Calculation Options to access the Model Calculation Options dialog box. - For the option Export Compatibility, select PCM 7.5 Export. Note that the default option is PCM10.0 Export, in which the check for rules will be performed.

Export Takes Longer Than Expected for Versions 7.5 Support Package 10and Later

When SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management is integrated with SAP BusinessObjectsBusiness Intelligence platform, users can access model data and results in Microsoft Excel using the SAPBusinessObjects EPM Solutions, add-in for Microsoft Office (EPM add-in).

With Support Package 08, write-back from the EPM add-in to SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and CostManagement is enabled. For example, a user accesses model data via the EPM add-in in Microsoft Exceland creates a report that contains editable values. If the user changes those values and then clicks"Submit Data", the changes are pushed to the SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Managementsystem. These changes would be visible, for example, in a grid or Data Explorer layout.

For more information, see the "Support for the EPM Add-in" topic in the "SAP BusinessObjectsProfitability and Cost Management 10.0 Master Guide", as well the "Prerequisite Software" section in the"SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management 10.0 Installation Guide".

Note: The write-back feature does not work for Bill of Materials and Objectives and Metrics models.

If SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management is upgraded from version 7.0 to version 10.0on a Microsoft SQL server database, the supplied SQL scripts fail to upgrade the database. To avoid thisissue, use the scripts provided with the most recent support package instead. Support packages areavailable in the Software Download Center in the SAP Service Portal at http://sap.service.com/swdc.

This only affects upgrades from SAP BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management version 7.0 toversion 10.0 on a Microsoft SQL server database. Upgrades from version 7.5 to version 10.0 or on anOracle database work as expected.

This problem was caused by the confirmation dialog for the ‘Paste as sibling(s)’ command being unable tohold a very large amount of text. It displayed the names of all items to be added and was unable tohandle approximately 300 or more items, which caused Model Builder to crash and none of the itemswere pasted in.

The issue has been resolved by amending the dialog so that it displays the name of the item to be pastedin only when there is a single item to be added. When more than one item is being pasted, the dialogdisplays the total number of items.

Console Wizard

ADAPT01629746

You can now use the Console command, Export View, to export a view to a "null" file name. This causesthe model to fully calculate and cache results, but does not write the results to a file, so it takesconsiderably less time than an export to a file. It is useful, for example, to run the command overnight sothat a large model is fully calculated in the morning and takes less time to time open.To export to a "null" file name, you create a Console job using the Export View command, and instead ofproviding a file name as a parameter, you supply either a pair of double quotes ("") or single quotes ('').

It is not possible to export a view to a "null" file name.

When the Model Calculation Option for Resource Driver Assignment was set to By Responsibility Center,it was not possible to set override assignments in the "Resource Driver Assignments" screen because the"Direct Activities" panel and the "Override Resource Drivers" panel were both disabled.

Further issues were identified with the "Resource Driver Assignments" screen: Expected behavior is thatthe user should not be able to set an override for a group-level item and the Add option should bedisabled when only a group item is selected. When both a group-level item and a child item are selected, the Add option should be enabled but the override is created for the child item only.

However, when the Model Calculation Option for Resource Driver Assignment was set to By Cost Type, the Add option was not disabled if a group item was selected; and if a group item and its child item wereselected, this caused the application to crash when setting an override.

The following corrections have been applied to Resource Driver Assignment:- Overrides can be set when the Model Calculation Option is set to By Responsibility Center- Overrides cannot be set for group-level items- If a multiple selection is made that includes a group-level item, overrides are created for the child-levelitems only, which is correct.

When a model calculation is in progress, the calculation appears to loop and if it is allowed to run for morethan five minutes, the Model Builder interface becomes unresponsive. This is caused by the softwarecontinually encountering a General Protection Fault during calculation and restarting the calculation. Toresolve the issue, this support package adds extra internal validation into compiled rules. Models nowcalculate correctly.

The model calculation "loops" and the Model Builder interface freezes.

This issue is related to the Set Context option on the context menu for the virtual dimension,Components, in a grid in Design View in View Builder. If a user selects the Set Context option,"Components of Cost Object 1", expected behavior is that all the components of the selected cost objectare displayed. However, only leaf-level items items were displaying; components that weresubassemblies did not appear in the grid. The Set Context option had been amended so that now, if a user selects the context "Components fromCost Object 1", all components are displayed, including subassemblies.

In a model, CostObjectValue values were incorrectly calculated when grids were opened and valuesupdated in a specific order that involved updating ExternalActivityValue values and then updatingExternalCostObjectValue values. In the "Resource Drivers Assignment" screen, errors were encountered when users tried to select multipleLine Items and create Resource Driver overrides or Direct Activity assignments for them. To resolve theseissues, a number of fixes related to Resource Driver assignments are available with this support package:

- In the "Resource Drivers Assignment" screen, you can create inherited assignments but not inheritedoverrides. That is, you can select a group-level item and make an assignment and the assignment isinherited by any child item that does not already have an assignment other than <RD Unassigned>against it. When creating overrides, you can select a group-level item along with at least one child item, and click Add to add an override. However, after you have selected your override dimensions and clickAdd, only the child item has an override created against it.

- In the "Resource Drivers Assignment" screen, when creating direct activity overrides, the "Overrides"window by default selects the default dimensions and allows you to add overrides against them, you donot have to explicitly select the dimension item.

- When importing or exporting a model, all relevant model data is included, this includes assignments, overrides, and Direct Activity overrides. This applies to both models for which the Model CalculationOption, "Resource Driver Assignment", is set to "By Cost Type" and those that are "flipped" - that is, the"Resource Driver Assignment" option is set to "By Responsibility Center".

- All valid assignments, overrides, or Direct Activity overrides are used in the calculation.

Security for the web client has been improved as follows:

1. If an error occurs during streaming to or from the web client and the HideErrorMessage registry keyexists, the software displays the message stored against the CustomErrorMessage registry key, instead of a messageinforming the user what was next expected in the stream.

2. Parameters in the URLs created by the web client to send to the web server are now formatted toprevent script injection.

3. All ASP (Active Server pages) pages now have added validation to check that expected parameters inURLs are in a valid form. The validation also includes checks against all undefined parameters to ensure that no illegalcharacters can be passed that could be used for script injection, especially the "greater than" (>) and "less than" (<)symbols.

4. ASP now checks that sessionID is valid before responding. This check is only performed if the page ispart of the interactive application. If the session is not valid, a "403 Forbidden" message is returned. Note: The about.asp page is visible before login and, therefore, the check is not valid for this page.

5. When an image is requested from the server, the sessionID is obtained from the URL of the referringpage and is validated to ensure the session is still valid. Note: Images will be cached by the browser so it will still be possible to request an image that haspreviously been cached, even without a valid sessionID.

6. When pages are rendered by the web server, if the HideErrorMessage registry key is present,Javascript is added to the page to suppress the standard reporting of error messages by the web client. Instead of showing theregular message, the message stored against the CustomErrorMessage registry key is displayed.

A Bill of Materials model returned results, for example BOMProductUnitRate andBOMComponentExternalUnitRate values, that were incorrect and inconsistent. This lead to duplicate processing, causing errors in thereturned results.

This affects only a subset of Bill of Materials models.

Reasignment of activities can create a difference between the amounts in reassignment(SummaryMovementValue) and the final state after reassignment (SummaryActivityValue). Thediscrepancy can occur because the reallocation system keeps reallocating until there is less than 0.001%(the default level of precision) of the value being reallocated left, at which point the system assigns theremainder to the activity with the highest cost. If the amount being allocated is extremely large, this canproduce a noticable discrepancy. In Support Package 08 Patch 1, a new Model Calculation Option, Reallocation Precision, allows you tochoose the degree of precision you require for reallocation values. A model included Activities that were implicitly assigned to Responsibility Centers. Users found that if theychanged EmployeeResourceDriverSplit values to zero in one period, this could cause the impliedassignments to disappear from grids or assignment screens. Closing and reopening the model made themissing assignments reappear.

As EmployeeResourceDriverSplit records are created, associated Implied Activities are also created asneeded, with these Implied Activities being correctly removed when the EmployeeResourceDriverSplitvalue reaches zero. When a model was opened that contained EmployeeResourceDriverSplit records inthe database, the internal count or the number of records would incorrectly be set to 1, rather than theactual number of records, so changing any EmployeeResourceDriverSplit value to zero would remove allImplied Activities from the running model, although records would still correctly remain in the database.Closing and reopening the model would show the Implied Activities again because there wereEmployeeResourceDriverSplit records in the database, but changing any EmployeeResourceDriverSplitvalue to zero would cause the same behaviour. The application should have been using the number ofEmployeeResourceDriverSplit records in the database to determine at which point all Implied Activitiesshould be removed.
