Today,wearegoingtobeupdatingourSAPSolutionManager7.1CIMDataintheSLDofaSAPSolutionManager.Mostoftheinformationregardingthisprocess,canbefoundinthisbeautifulnote669669.

However,ifyoulike,youcanfollowthisposttolearntheprocessinagraphicmanner.Inmycase,IaccessedtransactionLMDBonSAPSolMan,andfoundawarninglettingmeknowtheCIMDataversionwasoutdated,andsinceIhadsometime,Idecidedtoproceedandupdateit.

Firstofall,youmustaccesstheSLDofSolMan(http://localhost:50000/sld),andnavigatetoAdministration>Backup>All.Thiswillcreateabackupofthecurrentsldnamespace,justincasetheupdatefails.Imustsaythough,Ihavedonethisprocessover50times,andithasneverfailedandneededtorecoverhowever,backupsarealwaysamust!

Sobyselectingallinstances,youcreateabackupforallyoursld/active,sld/active1,instances:

Withthefollowingprocedure,youwillbeabletounreleasetransportrequestthatwasalreadyreleased.Niftyright?

Firstofall,thisisanunsupportedprocedure.Supposedly,ifyouhavereleasedatransportorder,thatsit,releaseditis.However,withthislittletrickyoumightbypassit,butplease,dontgetacustomedtousingthismethod.

Procedureonhowtounreleasetransportrequest:

1.AccesstransactionSE16N

2.AccesstableE070(ezerosevenzero)

3.Putyourtransportorderortaskofthetransportorder,andwrite&sap_editwithoutonthetransactionbox.PressF8andyouwillbeabletomodifythefieldsofthechosentransportorder.

4.ChangethevalueoffieldTRSTATUSfromR(released)toD(modifiable).

5.Save,andexit.

Now,ifyouvisualizethetransportorderthroughSE01,youwillseethatitisnolongerreleased.Thereforewehavemanagedtounreleasetransportrequest!Butplease,donotmakeahabitofthis!

Recently,IcameintocontactwithasituationthatIhadntexperiencedbefore.Itseemsthatwhilemovingavirtualmachinefromoneplacetoanother,thedatabasesuddenlystayedwiththestatusSQLSuspectModestatusandunabletobeaccessed.

ThesolutionforMSSQL2008andIbelieveaswellforMSSQL2005databasesgoesbyexecutingthefollowingscript:

Thissimplescriptwillenableyoutorecoveryourdatabasetothecorrectworkingstatus.

1.sp_resetstatusreferencingthedatabaseturnsoffthesuspectflag/statusofadatabase.

2.Next,itsetsthedatabasetoEmergencyStatus:

Sometimes,youmightgetintothesituationwhereyoudonthaveabackup,somethingseemscorrupt,andtheonlysolutionyouneedistousetheEmergencymode.

3.Next,weexecuteasimplecheckdb.

4.Now,weputthedatabasetosingleuserwiththeparameterROLLBACKIMMEDIATE.ThiscausesallqueriesrunninginthedatabasetorollbackandallowthedatabasetoswitchtoSingleUsermode.

5.WeexecuteanewcheckdbwithparameterREPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS.Thiscausestoexecuteacheckdbwhichwillfixalltheerrorsthatitfinds.However,itmightcausedataloss.

6.Wechangethemodeofthedatabasetomultiusertoallownormalfunctionality.

NoteThisqueriesmightrunforafewhours,checkdbsarelengthyprocesses.
