VOCATIONAL TALK Elcanore Webster
gave a brilliant vocational talk. For moreinformation, visit her web site at
www.ewwebster.com. (Note: this week's editor
is the same Eleanore Webster, thus theopportunity for shameless advertising).
RECOGNITION Recognition: before andafter the main event of the morning: PresidentSteve noted that SI200 was given to theVolunteer Center Holiday Giving Tree Program, representing 50% of the fines. Good job,President Steve.
Mike Downey celebrated his birthday with atrip to Southern California and spent the timeplanning for his wife's birthday this week:$40.00 to the fund. John Dolensck celebrated abirthday on 1/3; his plans cost him S20.00. DonFloriani's wife's birthday was spent in thehospital, but it cost him S20 anyway.
Anniversaries: Bob Scott celebrated his 44lh
anniversary onJanuary 2nd by eating Chinesefood and planning a trip to Cabo San Lucas. This cost him only S22 plus future Cabo debts.
Penny Millar's trip to Hong Kong resulted in acareer change and a marriage proposal: all thisfor only S50.00. Larry Martin was fined S15.00for being one of the top travel agencies inSonoma County according to the BusinessJournal. Larry says there arc only two travelagencies left, but he's just being humble.
Lcroy Carlenzoli's firm was also listed as one ofthe top civil engineering firms in town, but hewasn't fined any money (probably because hecould only afford a high powered leaf blowerfor his wife on her birthday.
President Steve was pleased to note that EricSimon placed an unfortunate bet with him onthe UCLA/Fresno State game. Seems Eric iscooking dinner for President Steve at a fancyrestaurant in town. No added fine.
PROGRAM Bruce Campbell gave a veryinformative talk on the Rotary FoundationProgram for Peace and Conflict Resolution.

In both our Charter School
and After School Program,we provide art, dance, music, journal writing, martialarts, costuming, pottery, setbuilding, drumming, computer and video activities.Through the vehicle of theatre we provide a safe environment to teach teamwork,
cooperation, communicationskills, conflict managementand most importantly, tobuild self-esteem. The program is open to all children, regardless of socio-economicbackground.
Because a child has an ad

students. The students are
typically "at-risk" studentswho may live in a dysfunctional family, be homeless ormay have parents in jail. Theart and drama based programs help families re-buildtheir lives by teaching values,self-reliance, life skills and
how to successfully resolveconflicts. It is an environ

The philosophy of the schoolis to "Teach from the heart
and the mind will follow".
There is a lot of student turn
over due to homclessness or
family instability. This moving program made us allaware of a segment of societythat certainly needs support, nurturing and love. It shouldbe noted that SOS. one of the
programs Sunrise Rotary supports and helps fund in conjunction with a grant fromSanta Rosa East Rotary hasgiven $2400 to Kid's Street.
