SANDOVAL COUNTY
NEW MEXICO
October 6—October 12, 2019
The officers elected for this year include Evan Webster, president from Union County, Helena Ramirez, vice president from Hidalgo County, Taylor Moore, secretary from Sandoval County, Alyssa McAlister, treasurer from Roosevelt County, Kaitlyn Kircher, parliamentarian from Roosevelt County, McKenzie Luna, reporter from Sierra County, and Randy Halvorsen, song and recreation leader from Dona Ana County.
The state 4-H officers started off their year of service with an orientation and a leadership ex-perience in Washington, D.C., in July. The New Mexico Department of Agriculture sponsored this opportunity, which allows them to meet with legislative bodies and speak to U.S. Depart-ment of Agriculture officials.
Throughout the year, the officers will be planning and conducting various leadership events including the youth get-away for the junior and novice 4-H students. This event is held in April in Glorieta, New Mexico, and is intended to expose younger members to the array of opportuni-ties that 4-H has to offer. The officers also will play a large role in planning and running sessions at the 2020 New Mex-ico State 4-H Conference.
Congratulations to all the New Mexico State 4-H Officers!

National 4-H Youth Summit for Healthy Living
The National 4-H Conference Center is hosting a four-day conference for high school youth on Healthy Living, to be held February 13-16, 2020 at the National 4-H Conference Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland. This event will develop youth knowledge and skills in addressing to-
day’s health related issues including nutrition education, physical fitness, wellness, and emotional well being. Youth will participate in a variety of workshops, learn from professionals in these related fields, and create action plans to implement projects to promote healthy living in their communities. The struc-ture of the summit maximizes the amount of hands-on learning experiences and translates that learning to direct outcomes. The youth leaders representing New Mexico will share about their learning experi-ences with other youth upon their return.
Deadline to Apply is December 20, 2019
New Mexico 4-H is looking for high school aged youth, in grades 9-12 with an interest in the Healthy Living program priority area who want to grow their leadership skills, learn more about the Healthy Living area and return to New Mexico with new ideas to put into action and serve as ambassadors for 4-H Healthy Living.
A limited number of youth will be selected for this opportunity and have their trip expenses covered by New Mexico 4-H in partnership with the Wal-Mart Foundation Healthy Living Grant. Please read through the expectations and decide if this is an experience you can commit to. Application and agent reference form will need to be submitted by Friday, December 20, 2019. Youth will be contacted by January 15 about their selection status. If you are interested in applying, contact Steve or Nicole.
