8:25-9:25 amKeynote - Move the Needle Up! How Great Patient Experiences Can Earn Big Payer BonusesMeryl D. Luallin, SullivanLuallin Group

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other payers are rewarding hospitals and medical groups for high patient satisfaction scores. It’s not dicult to earn these bonuses if you know which ratings have the most influence on overall patient satisfaction and how to raise them. This session addresses the new emphasis by CMS and others on the CG-CAHPS survey instrument and how to implement simple but strategic improvement tactics for maximizing your patient scores and earning the bonuses your practice deserves.

9:55-12:05 pmICD-10 Coding VignettesFaith C. M. McNicholas, RHIT, CPC, CPCD, PCS, CDC and Peggy Eiden, CCS-P, CPC, CPCD, CPCMA, American Academy of Dermatology (AAD)

ICD-10 requires enhanced medical record documentation to allow for accurate diagnosis code assignment. ICD-10 is not just a Medicare requirement, it is a HIPAA mandate. Join the experts and learn how the revised and updated coding guidelines can help you improve your coding documentation. This sesson will provide examples of documentation improvements that will make your code assignments more accurate.

9:55-10:55 amSecret Service Revealed: Customer Service Tips from an Undercover Mystery PatientMeryl D. Luallin, SullivanLuallin Group

Patient satisfaction surveys may provide good data, but they don’t always tell the complete story about a patient’s experience with a practice. As a 20+ year “mystery” patient, I have seen it all…from the physician who reached out to shake my hand while wearing rubber gloves to the sta member who refused to return the unused portion of my cash deposit! This session will describe the peaks and valleys from the perspective of a mystery patient and provide specific service tips from high scoring groups that make every patient experience extraordinarily great!

9:55-10:55 amLeveraging Retail and Cross-Promotion Strategies to Increase Revenue and Oce SuccessSusan McNeece, Jan Marini Skin Research

Most successful oces are busy with aesthetic procedures yet fail to realize their full revenue potential due to underperformance in retail homecare sales. This presentation focuses on common challenges faced by practices today with proven recommendations for in-oce marketing, sell-through concepts and promotional strategies. Improved retail sales increases oce revenue and can be leveraged to improve procedure conversion rates with little to no additional time requirements, stang or expenditures.

11:05-12:05 pmStrategic Planning for Your PracticeSteve Wermuth, Strategic Health Care

The health care environment is changing rapidly. The Aordable Care Act (ACA), payment reforms and service delivery reforms are forcing health care providers to look at the way they deliver services and question who their partners are in their market areas. The development of a strategic plan that charts the course of action for a health care EMR provider is more important than ever. Mr. Wermuth will walk you through the aspects of a meaningful strategicplanning process so your practice can be ready for the future.

11:05-12:05 pmChange Management - The Key to EMR Success for Physician PracticesMichael R. Cohen, MRC Consulting Group

This session will provide an overview of where the PhysicianEMR currently is, where it is headed, and what a practice can do to get more value out of its current and future investments in EMR. Discussion will include productive use of an EMR, the importance of workflow, how toaddress Meaningful Use, why many fail and how others succeed, and some practical tips for success.

9:40-10:40 amTuning Up Your Rubbish Detector for InternetMarketingBrent Cavender, MetaMed Marketing LLC

More than ever, potential patients identify and research dermatology practices on the Internet, so identifying webproviders qualified in website design, optimization and Search Engine Optimization is more critical than ever. Participants will learn: 3-5 questions to quickly reduce 1000s of possible vendors to five or fewer qualified vendors, the path patients follow in seeking out dermatological providers, and how to intercept potential patients with informative content so that practice becomes their first call.

9:40-10:40 amThe Business Case for Creating the ExtraordinaryPatient ExperienceCarole A. Lambert, MPA, RN, Cooperative of AmericanPhysicians, Inc.

Patients and their families want to feel cared about as well ascared for. Physicians and their stas want to feel eective and successful in their eorts on behalf of patients and families. This presentation poses the following questions

and considers possible answers: What does it take to become the provider and place of choice for patients and sta? In an age of healthcare consumerism, how can we distinguish ourselves in the marketplace? Where and how does the extraordinary patient experience begin?

10:50-11:50 amGet Paid Now Without the Hassle: A Patient-Centered Approach to CollectionsCheryl Bisera, Cheryl Bisera Consulting

To thrive in the new healthcare environment it is vital to address the patient financials paradigm in reimbursement. The trend of patients assuming a higher share of their health costs isn’t going away. This makes it incredibly important for practices to take a firmer stand on patient collections. However, it’s dicult for sta to take on the new responsibilities of collecting payments from patients. Find out how a patient-centered approach can help you boost collections and ease the process for sta and patients at the same time!

10:50-11:50 amHow To Have An Unforgettably Positive Oce VisitSteven K. Shama, MD, MPH, JoyWorks Communications and Tena Brown, Tenacity Consulting

With the dramatic changes that are occurring in medicine today, the oce visit is no longer a sacred interaction. It has been invaded by time constraints and intrusions of the generally negative healthcare system. How can we bring back the days when the healthcare provider and sta were truly in command of the sacred oce visit? During this session, a series of questions and answers will be provided on how to create a positive oce visit for the healthcare provider, sta and the patient, while maintaining this sacred interaction.

10:50-11:50 amBest Practice Patient Flow: How to Seamlessly Integrate Clinical, Cosmetic and Mohs Flow SystemsLarry Brooks, Practice Flow Solutions

Getting the flow systems of a practice to work smoothlywith no logjams is hard enough when it’s just clinical. However, in today’s environment with practices also having Mohs and cosmetic patients at the same facility, the flow patterns are extremely dicult to set up and manage. This session will guide attendees on how to assess the current flow of their oce, identify issues causing the logjams, and give solutions.

Smartphones, laptops, and tablet computers can be the ultimate combination of convenience and technology empowerment for you and your physicians. However, the adoption of these technologies within medical practices has outstripped most practices’ understanding of important new risks. This presentation will help you check your practice for the most common vulnerabilities and get you started on establishing sound policies that will keep your dermatology practice in compliance, while protecting your practice’s eciency and profitability.

2:30-3:30 pmYour Online Reputation: The Dierence BetweenBankruptcy and ProsperityJerey Segal, MD, JD, Medical Justice

Today 25% of patients find their doctor using the internet. However, with the internet, if a patient is unhappy he or she needs to do little more than access a growing number of internet doctor rating sites. Also, anyone with a mouse, an internet connection, and a grudge can create permanent damage to a doctor’s most precious asset - his or her reputation. More than 70 sites allow such criticism to be rendered anonymously. Those with an axe to grind, disgruntled oce sta, competitors, or even ex-spouses can pose as patients. The posts are disseminated worldwide, and once posted, the criticism rarely comes down. 4:00-5:00 pmPreparing for and Surviving a Medicare AuditKevin R. Miserez, Esq., Wachler & Associates, P.C.

Whether providers have undergone an audit or have not yet defended an audit, the existing reality is that all dermatology providers should be prepared for increased attention from a Medicare audit contractor. Over the past year, CMS and its audit contractors have renewed their focus on Part B providers in an eort to find and recoup overpayments. This presentation will address the latest developments in the Medicare audit landscape, as well as provide attendees with important compliance measures and appeal strategies to implement in their preparation and defense of an audit.

4:00-5:00 pmStrategic Scheduling for Managers and PracticesKaren Zupko, KarenZupko & Associates, Inc.

Time is money for physicians and managers. What is an hour of your time worth? Do you know? Do your physicians know their hourly rate? And, yes, they have one. In this session, Karen Zupko will review a menu of ideas to improve oce scheduling. The challenge of reducing no shows, allowing for walk-ins (drug stores promise quick access!), managing the payer and procedure mix and scheduling deposits will all be covered. Though there are many options, it is important to recognize that there is no right way to schedule patients in a busy dermatology practice. This presentation will also cover Six Tips for Calming Informational Overload.

4:00-5:00 pmHIPAA, HIPAA Doom-Pa-Dee-Do. I Have Another Puzzle for You…Michael J. Sacopulos, JD, Medical Risk Institute

This presentation will use Mr. Wonka, Oompa Loompas, and scenes from this famous movie to illustrate risks and solutions to dermatology practices. Fun and fast paced, he will cover everything from noncompliant patients to OSHA concerns. Someone might even win a golden ticket!
