What is a DSLR camera?DSLR stands for Digital Single-Lens Reflex. DSLR models typically offer inter-changeable lenses, full manual controls, external flash units, and through-the-lens (TTL) viewfinders. They are usually large models and they closely resemble 35mm film cameras with handgrips and large lens housings.

What class should I take?We usually recommend that beginner or new camera owners start by taking the introductory course that corresponds to their camera brand. These classes cover the menus and functions of your camera and are usually offered every month unless otherwise stated.• Canon DSLR Cameras – Introduction to Canon DSLR with Mike Monezis or • Canon Pro DSLR Introduction with Michael Nadler.• Nikon Digital SLR Class – Introduction to Nikon DSLR or • Nikon Pro Digital SLR Class with Paul Van Allen• All other cameras – Understanding your Digital Camera with Art Ramirez

We will do our best to provide introductory classes on a regular basis but the schedule will be dictated by popularity and attendance as well as instructor availability. These classes are first come first served and there is no guarantee that there will be an open slot available for a specific class on the date and time you wish to attend.

The free class with purchase program is subject to change without notice and all classes listed may not always be available at all stores. This 3 hour hands-on photo class will teach you the building blocks of photography.

ISO determines the sensitivity of your sensor to light. Aperture (f-stop) opens up or closes a diaphragm that determines how much light passes through the lens. Shutter Speed controls how long the light passing through the lens hits the sensor. In this beginner class you will learn how these three controls work together to achieve the overall image exposure. You will also learn how to use your camera’s LCD screen and histogram to determine if you’ve captured a good exposure or if you need to make adjustments.

Join Frank on an adventure through the streets of Los Angeles. This workshop first will meet at Samy’s to go over some basics, then you will venture out on the town to shoot for a few hours. The course ends with some more classroom time to learn Frank’s post-processing and printing techniques. Each student will leave with a fine-art print they took during the course.

Frank Jackson specializes in seeing the light. Whether it’s as a premierecorporate photographer for Transamerica, an internationally recognizedfine art photographer or as the street photographer who always has at leastone camera with him.

Frank’s unique vision has been distilled through the lens of his journey into adeceptively simple view showcasing light and shadow. His personality is muchlike his work. He’s someone who lives his life one day at a time. He lives hisart, simply yet sophisticated and without pretense (even when wearing a beret). He’s like an Eagle Scout who collects photography badges – always prepared. He’s likely to have a Leica M6 and a Panasonic Gx1 in his bag and there might even be a Hasselblad or a toy camera – you never know. He started carrying digital cameras to “proof” his film shots and then found himself choosing digital as his primary tool more often than he expected.

Over the years many companies have introduced training programs and certifications that were little more than a sales pitch.

At the same time there is a large number of Assistants and Digital techs working with Phase One products everyday. There is a strong connection between the impression customers have of Phase One products and their experiences using them. Therefore if we can train these Assistants and Techs to better use and support Phase One products then we will have a happier and more successful user base.

This program is designed to teach assistants and digital techs the skills they need to get the most out of Phase One equipment and software. We believe this presents an excellent opportunity to drive sales by creating an educated client, dedicated brand ambassadors, and a stronger presence within the industry.
