New Look for Employee Paystubs Beginning October 2017, employee paystubs will have a new look. Nothing about your pay will change, only the way the paystub looks. The new paystub will have the same information that previous paystubs contained, plus several updates and some additional information. SAMPLE SHRA NON-EXEMPT PAYSTUB: WHAT’S NEW: Find more information at: go.unc.edu/paystub. Please review this sample paystub so that you will know what to expect when your new paystub arrives. If you have any questions about the new look or about how to locate information on your paystub, please visit go.unc.edu/paystub, email [email protected] or contact your department’s Human Resources representative. HOURS AND EARNINGS: All additional pay beyond base pay will be listed on the paystub. SHRA Non-exempt (hourly) employees will see their hours itemized. BEFORE-TAX AND AFTER-TAX DEDUCTIONS: Instead of one list of deductions, employees will see before-tax deductions and after-tax deductions. EMPLOYER-PAID BENEFITS: All employer-paid beneÿts will be listed on the paystub. This new section shows what the employer pays on the employee’s behalf, for example, for employer health care and retirement contributions. Also in this section are taxable fringe beneÿts such as employee gifts, prizes and awards, and taxable stipends and allowances. FEDERAL TAXABLE GROSS: In addition to Total Gross, this box will show the employee their Federal Taxable Gross income, which can be reviewed periodically, and the yearly total will match box 1 on the W-2. LEAVE DATA: Now includes the date that leave is valid through, so that it’s clearer for employees to determine how much leave they have earned and used that year. As always, TIM is the data system of record for leave and should be accessed when questions arise. A new guide, Viewing Accruals In TIM, is coming soon. This guide is provided by the Service Center of Excellence, in the Division of Finance & Administration at UNC-Chapel Hill.
