    chillies Cool and grind with curry leaes! asa$oetida and turmeric powder Cool and store in

    airtight container

    Coer - cook till the drumstick is done

    @ow open the pressure cooked dal and mash it well;t should *e well

    Check $or salt

    For ariations ! add 1/2 tsp o$ sam*ar powder along with the tamarind

    Chopped tomato can *e used along with onions,aute it till its mushy

    and then add tamarind e>tract

    2 tomatoes chopped

    1 cup yellow lentil (tur dal)

    1/2 cup o$ drumsticks

    1 onion chopped

    1/2 cup tamarind e>tract

    Method

    Boil the yellow dal in a pressure cooker! mash it and keep aside 0eat 1 tsp o$ oil in a pan and

    saute all the dry ingredients $or 23 mins

    &hen! grind them together with some water making a paste eep aside Cook the drumstickswith a pinch o$ turmeric powder in some water emoe $rom $ire when so$t

    0eat 1 tsp o$ oil in a pan and saute the onions till they turn golden *rown #dd tomato!

    Make tamarind e>tract $rom a goose*erry si+ed tamarind soaked in hot water

    ;n a pan add oil and throw in the mustard seeds ! $enugreek seeds and 1 red chilli

    #dd the sam*ar onion and saute in a medium low $lame till the onions *ecome turned

    golden *rown

    #dd the tamarind e>tract and add sam*ar powder! salt! turmeric powder and

    asa$oetida and let this *oil till the onions *ecome so$t and gets cooked 'o this in a

    medium low $lame

    Meanwhile in a small pan! add a tsp o$ oil and roast the channa dal! coriander seeds!

    redchillis till they *ecome golden *rown hen it is done add coconut to this and

    allow this to cool

    8rind this into a smooth paste adding little water and keep aside

    #dd the cooked toordal to the *oiling tamarind mi>ture and add the ground masala to

    this and mi> gently

    #dd little water to reach the right sam*ar consistency

    Bring this to a nice *oil without getting the sam*ar *urnt at the *ottom

    ingredients and coconut to a 4ne paste3 &dd very little %ater i' needed3

    "oak tamarind in 1/ cup o' %arm %ater 'or 15 minutes3 62tract the 7uice and

    keep aside3

    ressure cook lentils$ smash it ad keep aside3 8n a big pan$ add all vegetables$

    small onions$ 1/ teaspoon o' asa'oetida po%der$ smashed lentils$ 1 cup o' %ater3

    ring it to a boil$ until all vegetables are cooked3

    &dd tamarind e2tract$ grinded paste$ salt to taste to it3 &llo% it to boil$ but keepstirring3

    Mean%hile$ in a small pan$ add 1 tablespoon o' oil$ "plitter mustard seeds in it$

    add red chillies$ curry leaves$ 1/ teaspoon asa'oetida po%der and 'ry 'or a

    minute3 Trans'er it to the boiling curry and mi2 %ell3
