Welcome friends to the Phoenix Theatre. As I sit here in mid summer - gale force winds blowing and rain flooding the pavements and gutters - I can say with 100% confidence that the sun will be shining radiantly in our new programme starting in September!Great names, old friends and some newcomers will be here for your enjoyment. We are really pleased to welcome to the theatre for the first time, X-Factor winner and star of Chicago and Fat Friends The Musical, Sam Bailey and also welcome back for two shows, Blake with their new show, Stage and Screen and also in December, with their wonderful Christmas show. Also making a first time visit are The Blockheads which promises to be a brilliant night for live music.
This year has seen some fantastic theatre performances in our studio space and we’re very much looking forward to ‘The Unknown Soldier” and ‘Dracula’s Ghost’ in this season, plus the revival of John Godber’s ‘Happy Jack’ - a piece last performed by our theatre company some 27 years ago! Don’t forget we also offer pre show meals, all freshly cooked for you so ask the box office for details to make it a great night out!
My thanks go to you all, our patrons, for your continued support, please keep talking about us, and telling everyone on social media so that everyone knows about what we do - and thanks also to our army of volunteers upon whom we rely so heavily on keeping the theatre running so smoothly and efficiency. If you would like to find out about joining us, then take a look at the page later on in this programme and speak to our Theatre Manager, Richie Ross.

This Remembrance weekend join Captain Edmund Blackadder and his fellow dugout companions Baldrick and George on the Western Front. Can they continue to escape from Melchetts disastrous battle plans? Set in 1917 on the Western Front, in the trenches of the First World War, this incarnation of Edmund Blackadder sees him as a Captain in the British Army, finding himself trapped in the trenches - with another big push planned. His concern is to avoid being sent over the top to certain death not helped by the general incompetence of his comrades. This stage adaptation of Richard Curtis and Ben Eltons award-winning series features all 6 episodes and includes characters Darling, Melchett, Bob, Nurse Mary and Flashheart. This is an amateur production. There will be a bucket collection for The Royal British Legion.

Christmas is a time for trees, cards, presents and merry carolers, for all of which we have to be thankful to Charles Dickens, through who’s work they were revived in the nineteenth century. It is also a time of ghosts – again thanks in no small way to that prolific writer.
In a break away from his usual one man Dickens show, David enlists the help of various others to bring you more spine chilling tales of Christmas ghosts.
