The Carlinville High School Football Prayer and Breakfast will be on Friday

September 1st at 7:00 am in the morning. The players, coaches and cheerleaders will

gather in the Church for prayer, an inspirational talk and sing the school song followed

by a breakfast of biscuits and gravy, donuts, milk, and orange juice in the Parish Hall.

Jeff Link will be the coordinator for the weekly breakfasts this year.

When Yuri Gagarin, the first Soviet cosmonaut, returned from space, he is said to have remarked that he did-n't see God in heaven. "Soon afterward, a Moscow-based priest of the Orthodox Church responded, 'If you have not seen him on earth, you will never see him in heaven.'" ---------------------- I am thankful: • For the wife who says it’s hot dogs tonight because she’s home with me and not out with someone else. • For the husband who is on the sofa being a couch potato because he’s home with me and not out at the bars. • For the teenager who’s complaining about doing dishes because it means she’s at home, not on the streets. • For the taxes I pay because it means I’m employed. • For the mess to clean up after a party because it means I have been surrounded by friends. • For the clothes that fit a little too snugly because it means I have enough to eat. • For my shadow that watches me work because it means I’m out in the sunshine. • For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home. • For all the complaining I hear about the government because it means we have freedom of speech. • For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because it means I’m capable of walking and I have been blessed with transportation. • For my huge heating bill because it means I am warm. • For the woman behind me in church who sings off key because it means I can hear. • For the pile of laundry and ironing because it means I have clothes to wear. • For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means I have been capable of working hard. • For the alarm that goes off in the early-morning hours because it means I’m alive. • For the crazy people I work with because they make work interesting and fun. • And finally, for too much e-mail because it means I have friends who are thinking of me.

Following dinner we can either go out-side or stay in the gym…..all depending on the weather!

2018 Mission Trip We will begin planning for our next Mission Trip on September 6th as well. I will have July dates available for everyone to choose from. Ma-jority vote. National Youth Conference (NCYC)

The National Youth Conference is a three day faith based experience filled with speakers, prayer, workshops, liturgy, reconciliation, adora-tion, and a variety of fun activities. This experience is November 16-19, 2017 in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is for high school students. If you are interested in attending please contact Denny Baker for more detailed infor-mation!

PSR Registration PSR Registration is on the counter in the Narthex. You can register anytime before the first night of PSR, August 30th, or on that night. However, registering early , especially if you are brand new to PSR in advance is a big help!

PSR Snacks With PSR right around the corner I would like to ask for donations of snacks. We are looking for gallons of juice, small bottles of water, peanut butter crackers, fruit snacks, granola bars, and cheese crackers! A basket has been placed in the Narthex with the Cookie Monster sign. Please place your donations there. Thank you for you generosity!

Meet the Teacher Night We hosted our first ever Meet the Teacher Night! We began the night with a light dinner fol-lowed by Teacher introductions and then a fun “All About Me” Poster that we will display in the hallway for all to see! We had a great turnout for our first event like this and it really set the tone for the PSR year to come!

Christmas Market We have received a letter from Susan Eldred, a team member of the Carlinville Christmas Market asking some of the Carlinville area churches for help with the 2017 Christmas Market. They will be a live Nativity Scene with real animals. There will also be Christmas characters walking around the market. To make this successful they need volunteers from our community. They are looking for volunteers for the following **Materials and or time to build the nativity set that will house the animals and nativity characters. ** Seamstresses to donate time and or materials to make character costumes ** Volunteers to be the Christmas characters and in the Live Nativity Scene (the more volunteers they have the more they can rotate out the time slots.) If you find you could help in one or many of these ar-eas or would just like a little more info first, please contact Susan Eldred at 217-556-8882

Attention Parishioners

We are in need of several Eucharistic Ministers to take

Holy Communion to Morse Farms and Carlinville Rehab

once a month on Sunday after Mass. This is a very im-

portant Ministry because we bring Christ to those of our

Community who are no longer able to participate with us in

the Mass. They still need Christ in their lives, and you can

be of service to them once a month. Please consider this

Ministry, and if you are able to give of your time, please

call Kathy Baker at 217-855-2438."
